What a massive week it has been this week leading up to Easter. The whole school was involved in the Cross Country last Tuesday. This was a fantastic opportunity for the Infants students to experience the long run and all students put in a huge effort. Congratulations to the runners who have made it through to Zone on May 10. A very big thank you goes to Mr Harris for his fabulous organisation.

Jump Rope for Heart: The students are again participating in the Jump Rope for heart fundraiser. This week they should have received their sponsor booklet and instructions. The students will be practising their skipping each day for Fitness time. We look forward to the Jump Off in Term 2, Week 3. I am sure everyone's levels of fitness will be improved and their will be lots of amazing skippers after 6 weeks of practise!
Eco Warriors Assembly: Next Friday, April 5, we will induct our Eco Warriors into the Student Leadership team. This is a new initiative for MPS which began with the support of Red Hill Environmental Education Centre in 2023. Miss Evans has been our Enviro leader, supporting the students to learn more about caring for the environment through recycling and sustainability. You may have noticed our colourful bins around the school. Our Eco Warriors have more great ideas for the school environment in 2024 including planting, bird boxes, improving the vege garden and much more. The Eco Warriors are volunteer representatives from each class from Year 2 to Year 6. They are inspirational leaders, teaching the other students about caring for our environment both here at school and beyond. We look forward to their continued work and being an important student voice at MPS.
Waste Free Wednesday: One of the Eco Warriors initiatives at MPS was to introduce Waste Free Wednesday. This will occur again on Wednesday April 10, 2024. All students are encouraged to bring a waste free lunch and recess to school that day. Not only is this a great eco friendly activity for your child to participate in but also the class with the most waste free lunches is awarded points and receives a prize.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Parent teacher interviews will be held over Week 10 and 11. This is a valuable time to catch up with your child's teacher to discuss their progress. Please try and find a suitable time to meet. If the teachers availabilty doesn't suit, you can contact them to arrange another more suitable time. The link below will take you to the booking site.
Upcoming Events: See below the infographic which tries to map out all the events over the last 2 weeks of term, as well as the first week back next Term.

Staff Professional Learning - Visible Learning for Mathematics
Last week our dedicated staff had the opportunity to work with an esteemed educator, Lyn Coote, from ConnecT-ED focusing on the concept of Visible Learning in mathematics. Lyn's approach to Visible Learning is grounded in research and practical strategies that empower educators to make learning outcomes visible to both students and teachers. Through her guidance, our staff explored various methods to enhance instructional practices and cultivate a growth mindset among our students. Teachers observed Lyn in classrooms where she modelled practical techniques for creating a culture of learning where students feel empowered and motivated to take ownership of their learning. Staff learnt about the importance of implementing evidence-generating tasks to accurately assess student learning and inform instructional decisions. Staff are excited to apply the knowledge and skills gained from this experience and are committed to integrating evidence-informed practices into classrooms to ensure that every student achieves success.
