It's been a really busy week with our extra-curricular activities. A big congratulations to all our sporting teams and extra-curricular participants for their wonderful performances over the past week! From the touch football last week, the Rugby League Gala Day, to the Rugby Union Gala Day, Boys' Softball, Cross Country today, your dedication and sportsmanship have been exemplary, showcasing the values of teamwork and perseverance. It was so wonderful seeing students try something they hadn't before and watching their sense of pride, accomplishment and achievement made me proud to be associated with our school. We're also proud to acknowledge our students for not only their participation but also for being outstanding role models for our school within the community. I also want to extend a huge thanks to the parents and teachers whose support and encouragement have been instrumental in our students' achievements. Im not shocked, but blown away by the level of parental support at these events, including transportation, coaching, and just general support and assistance. Without you guys, our students miss out on these opportunities. As we gear up for upcoming events like the Gulgong Eisteddfod and more PSSA knockout games, let's continue to embody the spirit of participation that defines our school. Well done, everyone!
Kindergarten Safari Tours:We had a wonderful kindergarten information evening last week for parents of 2025 Kindergarten students. It is now time for our little Kindergarten friends to come join us for an exciting Kindergarten Safari tour on either Thursday, May 16th or Wednesday, May 29th at 10am. Bring your child along to explore our school and see our current fantastic Kindergarten students in action. We're eagerly looking forward to meeting you! Enrolments are now open. Don't forget out of area applications are due by the end of term. We encourage anyone who feels they meet the exceptional circumstances for out of area enrolment to first touch base with their local school to see if your needs can be accommodated.
P&C Meeting: Our next P&C Meeting is on Monday night at 6pm in the Mudgee PS Residence and we warmly invite all parents to join us. Your presence and participation are invaluable as we discuss important matters concerning our school community. Your insights and contributions help shape the decisions that benefit our students and their educational experience. Whether you're a regular attendee or joining for the first time, all are welcome to share their thoughts, ideas, and perspectives. Together, we can make a difference. See you there!
Jump Rope for Heart: Congratulations to all the students who participated in the Jump Rope for Heart over the past month. Your enthusiasm and dedication not only made the event a success but also contributed significantly to fundraising efforts. Your commitment to raising awareness for heart health is truly commendable, and we are looking forward to the final jump-off next Friday. A special thanks to Mrs. Tito for her exceptional organisation skills and to everyone who supported this cause.
Lions Club Vision Screening: A really big sincere thank you to the Lions Club for their voluntary support in providing vision screening for our Year 1 and 6 students. This initiative, commenced in 2023 and was really succesful. This year, screening began last week and will continue into next week. The process plays a crucial role in ensuring the well-being and academic success of our students. By offering vision screening, the Lions Club is contributing to early detection and intervention, which can positively impact our students' overall health and education. We deeply appreciate their dedication to our school community and their commitment to promoting the importance of vision health. Thank you, Lions Club, for your ongoing partnership and support!
Cudgegong Zone PSSA Facebook Page: A Facebook page has been created for our zone PSSA. The aim of this page is to provide information about the Zone. This will include updates on Zone trials, Zone achievements and other sport information. Please give it a like and a follow.
Mothers Day Breakfast: I would like to take this opportunity to express our sincerest appreciation to all those who volunteered at our Mother's Day stall and particularly those who joined us for the special Mother's Day breakfast on Wednesday. Your participation and support embody the spirit of our community, highlighting the importance of coming together to celebrate and honor the extraordinary women in our lives.
At Mudgee PS, we recognise that family and community are the cornerstones of a nurturing environment where every individual can thrive. As we celebrate Mother's Day, let us not only honor the mothers and caregivers in our midst but also reaffirm our commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive community where every member feels valued and cherished.
Thank you once again to all the remarkable mothers, caregivers, and volunteers who contribute to making our school a vibrant and welcoming place. Your dedication and positive attitude make all the difference.
Wishing you a Mother's Day filled with joy, love, and cherished moments with your loved ones. More images can be found on our MPS Facebook site link - Facebook
Upcoming Events: See below the infographic which tries to map out all the events over the lnext few weeks of school.
It’s been great to have our students back in classrooms and settling into the Term 2. I know all our teachers are looking forward to a successful remainder of 2024 and are excited to continue working with you to make this a memorable year for your child.
The evidence is clear that consistent attendance is the essential first step for your child to have a positive experience at school.
Every day matters for your child’s learning. In recent years we’ve seen too many students miss a day of school here and there. Missing school for students means missing time with friends, an important maths lesson or getting picked for a sports team. With days missed, years are lost.
Students are required to attend school every day, whether it’s the first or last day of the term, Mondays, Fridays or days dedicated to sports carnivals, school excursions and incursions.
Help us make sure your child is achieving their best and stays ahead in their learning with regular school attendance. The more time your child attends school, the greater their opportunity to learn, make new friends and improve their wellbeing. Together, let’s build positive attendance habits for a lifetime.
If your child is absent from school, please let us know why as soon as possible, even if it’s just a few minutes at the start or end of the school day. Of course, there will be times when your child is unable to be at school (like when they are unwell). Where possible, medical appointments should take place outside school hours where possible (I know this is difficult on Mudgee and we need to take what we can get) and family holidays should be taken in term breaks.
If your child is feeling anxious about coming to school and you need support, please reach out to your child’s teacher or me directly. Our staff are here to work with you and your child to help them attend school each and every day. There are also helpful resources for parents and carers on the Every Day Matters website.
Thank you again for working with our teachers and support staff to make sure your child is at school, on time, every day. We all want to see our students learn, grow and belong in our equitable and outstanding public school.
Danielle George
Deputy Principal

Office News - Sentral for Parents Portal
For 2024 & beyond
Sentral for Parents Portal App is a new system of payment for our school community. We appreciate your continued patience and support as we are learning the new system. If you have already activated your portal account with a generated Access Key, thank you.
The Sentral for Parents Portal App allows you to pay online rather than sending cash with your child to school or coming into the office to pay in person. For further information to setup your portal is available on the Mudgee Public School webpage under the Make a Payment TAB.
It is really advantageous to have a portal account as more features will be rolled out in due course as we settle into the features that Sentral has available. Currently, student absences can also be explained through the App as well as making payments.
With all excursions, activities, events, and other miscellaneous items that have a cost associated, an invoice will automatically be generated into your portal, and you will be advised via email. Financial assistance is always available, please contact your child’s teacher or the front office if you need to discuss this. Confidentiality is always highly respected regarding assistance and payment plans are also available for all school events.
Furthermore, the invoicing system may send an invoice in advance of a note coming home with your child. Please ask your child for any notes so you are fully aware of the details around the event or activity you are paying for. DO NOT pay an invoice until you have signed and returned any permission/consent forms.
As always, we are here to help if there are any issues.
If you require an ‘Access Key’ to login, please contact the school office for assistance by phone 02 6372 2036 or email mudgee-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au .
It is important that the school have correct student contact details incase of an emergency, including residential address, parent/carer email, phone numbers and any additional emergency contacts. If you wish to check your student details, or wish to make any changes, please phone the office for assistance.
PICKING YOUR CHILD UP EARLY
In the event that you have to pick your child up early, we ask that you come to the office and sign them out. You can then go to your child's classroom to collect them.
