Reconciliation Week:Next week, we will be observing National Reconciliation Week with a variety of classroom activities aimed at raising awareness and addressing racism. Students will engage in interactive lessons about the history and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, participate in storytelling sessions, and create art projects inspired by Indigenous traditions. The hope is that we aim to foster a deeper understanding and respect for diversity, promoting an inclusive environment where every student feels valued. This week is an important opportunity to educate our students about reconciliation, celebrate Indigenous contributions, and take a stand against racism. A huge thank you to Mrs Roberts and the Aboriginal Education Team for their assistance in supporting learning next week.
NAIDOC Shirts:Some great news, our NAIDOC Shirts have arrived and will be distributed to students next week...and they look fantastic!!. As it is reconciliation week next week, we are more than happy to let students wear this shirt at any stage throughout the week. We are also happy for students to wear this shirt on their sport day if they wish. This is inline with how we allow other Sport shirts eg Western Representative and NSW PSSA apparel to be worn on Sports days. I am looking forward to seeing many students in their shirts next week and beyond, as we honor and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, fostering a sense of pride and unity within our school community
Waste Free Wednesday:Starting next week, we are excited to announce the launch of Waste-Free Wednesday, spearheaded by Miss Evans and our dedicated Eco Warriors team. Every Wednesday, students are encouraged to bring lunch and snacks with no disposable packaging, promoting sustainable practices and reducing our school's environmental footprint. Through this initiative, we aim to raise awareness about waste reduction and inspire eco-friendly habits among our students. Let's all do our part to support this important cause and make a positive impact on our planet! There will be prizes for the class who best support this initiative over the term.
CLC Short-Film Festival :Mudgee PS will again be participating in the Cudgegong Learning Community Short-FIlm Fesitval. We will run a school competition in Week 9, meaning entires will be due in Week 8 this term. Many classes will be participating, but students are welcome to submit their own films either as a group or individuals - maybe even with their siblings? The guidelines are below. If students are from cross-stage categories we will simply pick the most appropriate category to enter the film into. Last year, this was a huge success and it will be wonderful to see the competition again promoted within the community. Happy film making- lets see that creativity!
Kindergarten Safari Tours:It was wonderful to see families and new students for our Kindergarten Safari last week. Our final Kindergarten Safari is on next Wednesday 29 May, so if you have a child starting Kindergarten next year, bring them along for a look into our Kinder classrooms and an exploration around our school.
Enrolments are now open and it will be great to see many of these children coming through for 2025.
Attendance Matters: Attendance matters! In the coming weeks, we will be promoting our school goal of achieving a weekly attendance rate of over 90%. Regular attendance is crucial for student success, and we appreciate your support in helping us reach this target. Keep an eye out for Mrs. George's piece in the newsletter, where she will share more insights and tips on the importance of consistent attendance. Let's work together to ensure every student is present and ready to learn!
Jump Rope for Heart: A huge thank you and congratulations to all who participated in Jump Rope for Heart and those who were able to raise some money. I am pleased to announce we were able to raise $4189 as a school for the Heart Foundation. Your efforts and generosity will make a significant difference in supporting heart health and research. A huge congratulations to Frankie Perring who was our top fundrasier, raising $636.31. Well done, Frankie!
Cudgegong Zone PSSA Facebook Page: A Facebook page has been created for our zone PSSA. The aim of this page is to provide information about the Zone. This will include updates on Zone trials, Zone achievements and other sport information. Please give it a like and a follow.
Thank you - have a lovely weekend and fortnight ahead!

Office News
PARENTS / VISITORS ONSITE
Parents / Visitors that come to the school during school hours MUST report to the school office prior to visiting classrooms, and indicate the reason for being onsite. For safety reasons, and in case of an emergency, you may be requested to show ID, and complete any necessary paper work depending on the reason for your visit.
We thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we ensure the safety of all students and comply with the Department of Education policy.
CHANGE OF STUDENT DETAILS - IMPORTANT
It is important that the school have correct student contact details incase of an emergency, including residential address, parent/carer email, phone numbers and any additional emergency contacts. If you wish to check your student details, or wish to make any changes, please phone the office for assistance.
PICKING YOUR CHILD UP EARLY
In the event that you have to pick your child up early, we ask that you come to the office and sign them out. You can then go to your child's classroom to collect them.
If you need to make a change to student routine at the end of the school day, we ask that you call the office by 2.30pm. A message will then be provided to your child indicating this change.
Sentral For Parents Portal - 2024 & beyond
Sentral for Parents Portal App is a new system of payment for our school community. We appreciate your continued patience and support as we are learning the new system. If you have already activated your portal account with a generated Access Key, thank you.
The Sentral for Parents Portal App allows you to pay online rather than sending cash with your child to school or coming into the office to pay in person. For further information to setup your portal is available on the Mudgee Public School webpage under the Make a Payment TAB.
It is really advantageous to have a portal account as more features will be rolled out in due course as we settle into the features that Sentral has available. Currently, student absences can also be explained through the App as well as making payments.
With all excursions, activities, events, and other miscellaneous items that have a cost associated, an invoice will automatically be generated into your portal, and you will be advised via email. Financial assistance is always available, please contact your child’s teacher or the front office if you need to discuss this. Confidentiality is always highly respected regarding assistance and payment plans are also available for all school events.
Furthermore, the invoicing system may send an invoice in advance of a note coming home with your child. Please ask your child for any notes so you are fully aware of the details around the event or activity you are paying for. DO NOT pay an invoice until you have signed and returned any permission/consent forms.
As always, we are here to help if there are any issues.
If you require an ‘Access Key’ to login, please contact the school office for assistance by phone 02 6372 2036 or email mudgee-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au .
