Student Academic Reports Online: Our teachers have been hard at work behind the scenes preparing Semester 1 Reports. This year, our reports will be sent via the Sentral Parent Portal, and as a result, we will not be printing reports. A letter is going home today which has further information, as well as an individual letter to those parents we can see haven't yet accessed the Sentral for Parent Portal. Reports will be made available on Friday 5 July (the last day of term). Any parents having difficulties accessing the portal, we are here to help and find solutions. Please contact the office for assistance.
Good News story:
I was absolutely thrilled to hear of the great story from our Touch football teams visit to Wallerawang last week. Both our boys' and girls' teams had two great wins, but that is not the story I wish to share. After the game, the tables were rolled out, as were the Muffins, snacks and refreshments provided by Wallerawang PS which allowed both teams to get together and have a chat. That is what sport is all about and what Public Education is all about. I have been communicating with the principal (Mrs Lamborn) of Wallerawang to thank her for their hospitality and her words summed it up "This certainly represents the true essence of public education and makes me so proud of what we are able to achieve if we all work together". There is no doubt the support was reciprocated with Mr Harris helping with the setup of the field before the games commenced. See here a picture of the boy's teams mixing together. It looked like a great day, despite the FREEZING conditions!
Multicultural Public Speaking Local Final:
Thursday 13 June 2024, four students represented MPS at the local final at Dubbo South Public School.
In the Stage 2 section Hannah Pye and Charlie Stevens presented their speeches on ‘Racism it Stops with Me’ and ‘If Kids Ruled the World’. After presenting excellent prepared speeches they were given 5 mins to write a speech on Disasters. Both of these students presented excellent speeches; Hannah on ‘War’ and Charlie on ‘David Warner’. Charlie was announced as the winner of the Stage 2 section. This is an amazing effort for his first public speaking competition! Congratulations! He will now contest the Zone final in August.
In the Stage 3 section Chloe Clarkson and Jake Colley presented engaging speeches on ‘Learning from the Past’ and ‘January 26th’. Again, the quality of both speeches was outstanding. They then prepared an impromptu speech on the topic, ‘It’s Hard’. Chloe spoke about bullying and Jake spoke about the footballer Ryan Papenhuyzen. Jake was awarded Highly Commended, a wonderful achievement.
Good Luck:On Tuesday our Girls PSSA Rugby 7s team will head to Gunnedah to participate in their next knockout game against Inverell PS. This is a one-off game with the winner progressing to the state finals in Sydney later this year. Best of luck girls!

This will be via the Square system, Cash will still be accepted on the day. As you can see via the image here, we will also be running a bake sale down at the carnival. If you are able to help with some baking, please contact Myff.
Attendance Spotlight: Our school wide attendance rate for week 7 was 84.7%. Our school target is 90%!In week 7 our unexplained absences DECREASED from 180, to 138, OUR AIM IS 0! If your child is absent from school, please notify the school via the Sentral Parent Portal app, contact your classroom teacher, send in a note on your child's return or phone the school office. Congratulations to Kindergarten with the highest attendance rate THREE weeks in a row, with Year 5 still hot on their heels! Thank you to Kindy with the least number of unexplained absences, with 8! Remember the magic number is 0! Congratulations to EVERY grade this week, whose unexplained absences ALL decreased!
Did you know? Parents of children from Kindergarten to Year 12 MUST ensure their children attend school every day. On occasion, your child may need to be absent from school. Justified reasons for student absences may include:
Being sick or having an infectious disease
Having an unavoidable medical appointment
Being required to attend a recognised religious holiday
Exceptional or urgent family circumstances e.g. attending a funeral.
Parents must provide an explanation for absences to the school within 7 days from the first day of any period of absence. Where an explanation has not been received within the 7-day time frame, the school will record the absence as unexplained on the student's record. Thank you for your ongoing support, every day counts!

Office News
PARENTS / VISITORS ONSITE
Parents / Visitors that come to the school during school hours MUST report to the school office prior to visiting classrooms and indicate the reason for being onsite. For safety reasons, and in case of an emergency, you may be requested to show ID, and complete any necessary paperwork depending on the reason for your visit.
We thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we ensure the safety of all students and comply with the Department of Education policy.
SECONDHAND UNIFORMS NEEDED
Calling out to all parents & carers. We are in need of second-hand spare clothing for all aged students but, in particular, smaller sizes in shorts and trousers. In the cold wet weather, students do have accidents and, it is helpful if we can provide them with a spare set of clothes.
Many thanks in advance for your donations.
ATTENTION YEAR 6 PARENTS & CARERS
A few weeks ago, a package was sent home with every year 6 student wishing to enrol into Mudgee High School in year 7 next year. We ask that, you read and sign all necessary forms and, return them to Mudgee Public School, front office as soon as possible. Thanks in advance for your co-operation.
PICKING YOUR CHILD UP EARLY
In the event that you have to pick your child up early, we ask that you come to the office and sign them out. You can then go to your child's classroom to collect them.
If you need to make a change to student routine at the end of the school day, we ask that you call the office by 2.30pm. A message will then be provided to your child indicating this change.
CHANGE OF STUDENT DETAILS - IMPORTANT
It is important that the school have correct student contact details in case of an emergency, including residential address, parent/carer email, phone numbers and any additional emergency contacts. If you wish to check your student details, or wish to make any changes, please phone the office for assistance.
Sentral For Parents Portal - 2024 & beyond
The Sentral for Parents Portal App allows you to pay online rather than sending cash with your child to school or coming into the office to pay in person.
It is really advantageous to have a portal account as more features will be rolled out in due course as we settle into the features that Sentral has available. Currently through the App, parents can notify the school of student absences, make online payments for excursions or incursions, and access Student Academic Reports to view and/or download.
The invoicing system may send an invoice in advance of a note coming home with your child. Please ask your child for any notes so you are fully aware of the details around the event or activity you are paying for. DO NOT pay an invoice until you have signed and returned any permission/consent forms.
As always, we are here to help if there are any issues. For further assistance with the App please visit https://www.sentral.com.au/parents
If you require an ‘Access Key’ to login, please contact the school office for assistance by phone 02 6372 2036 or email mudgee-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au .
