Canberra Excursion: Our Year 6 students recently returned late last Friday night from an unforgettable excursion to Canberra and the snow, where they had a fantastic time exploring and learning outside the classroom. I want to take this opportunity to commend our students for their exemplary behaviour, demonstrating the values of respect, and responsibility, which Mudgee Public School holds dear. A huge thank you goes out to our dedicated teachers and staff—Mrs. Martyn (Unbelievable organisation!), Mrs. Vitnell, Mr. Smith, and Mrs. Lewis—who ensured everything ran smoothly, as well as parent helper Brett Murnane for his invaluable support. This successful trip was a true reflection of our school's strong community spirit. Well done all!
Public Education Week: During Public Education Week, we proudly embrace the theme "Proud to Belong," which reflects the strength and equity of public education. At Mudgee Public School, we are deeply committed to these values and are honored to be part of a community that supports and uplifts every student. We are proud to be a Public School, and this week we have contributed to our sense of belonging through participating in the CLC Short-Film Festival and working closely with Lyn Coote (Mathematics Consultant) with nurtured student voice through visible learning, particularly within Mathematics. We look forward to celebrating this special week with parents and carers at our Open Day on Monday, where we can all come together to recognise the powerful impact of public education and the sense of belonging it creates.
Open Day: So, on Monday, we have an exciting day lined up at Mudgee Public School, and we encourage all parents and carers to join us. The day will commence at 9:40am with our SRC Investiture Assembly, where we will proudly recognise and celebrate our newly elected student SRC Semester 2 leaders. Following the assembly, parents are invited to visit their children’s classrooms for our Open Classroom session at 10:20am, engaging in a variety of interactive activities together.
After Open Classrooms, we’ll gather on the playground for a Morning Tea/Picnic (Bring your own!), providing a relaxed and enjoyable time for families to connect. Whilst that is going one, we will engage with some friendly Olympic Games competition on the playground, where students and parents can join in the fun. Our Mud Media Team have prepared the below video to remind you to come on to school on Monday. We look forward to seeing you there!
New Bus:We are excited to announce the arrival of our new 12-seater bus at Mudgee Public School, which was ordered last year. This bus, funded by the Department of Education and supported by Yancoal-Moolarben through a grant submitted by our P&C, allows our staff to transport students more easily, as it can be driven with a regular license. The Co-Funding of this bus will also allow us to have an operational funding bucket which will be able to subsidise operating costs for students and families. The smaller size of the bus provides greater flexibility for excursions and local trips, ensuring that more students can participate in off-site learning experiences. This addition complements our existing 25-seater bus, offering more learning experiences for our students. A huge thank you to the DoE and Yancoal-Moolarben.
Kindergarten Enrolments and Jolly Gym:We are really excited to start Jolly Gym next week. Registrations are still open as are enrolments for 2025.
Jeans for Genes and Wear Green and Gold:Thanks to everyone for their support of Jeans for Genes Day last Thursday. With donations and Yo-Yo Sales, we were able to raise $1023.00 for CMRI Mudgee. Well done and thank you to everyone for your contributions.
MPS HIVE - On the Road: Exciting news ahead.... Our Podcast Team is returning serve and heading to Gulgong PS to appear on the GPS Podcast. How exciting is this... I can't wait to share the end result with you

Visible Learning For Mathematics
It was wonderful to have Lyn Coote from Connect-Ed visit our school once again this week as part of our continued Visible Learning for Mathematics journey at Mudgee Public School. Lyn's expertise and enthusiasm brought new insights and energy to our classrooms! During her visit, Lyn focused on the importance of using ongoing assessments to monitor student progress, helping teachers tailor their instruction to meet the needs of each student. Essential to this, is the creation of mathematical tasks that generate evidence of student understanding. These tasks help teachers gather valuable data to inform their instruction. Lyn conducted demonstration lessons, modelling effective teaching strategies and providing our teachers with practical examples of how to develop students who are capable of assessing their own learning. By fostering self-assessment skills, we empower our students to take ownership of their learning and use feedback to identify strengths and set goals for improvement. Lyn's visit was a fantastic opportunity for our educators to learn and grow. We are excited to continue implementing these strategies and see the positive impact on our students' learning in mathematics!

Office News
PARENTS / VISITORS ONSITE
Parents / Visitors that come to the school during school hours MUST report to the school office prior to visiting classrooms and indicate the reason for being onsite. For safety reasons, and in case of an emergency, you may be requested to show ID, and complete any necessary paperwork depending on the reason for your visit.
We thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we ensure the safety of all students and comply with the Department of Education policy.
SECONDHAND UNIFORMS NEEDED
Calling out to all parents & carers. We are in need of second-hand spare clothing for all aged students but, in particular, smaller sizes in shorts and trousers. In the cold wet weather, students do have accidents and, it is helpful if we can provide them with a spare set of clothes.
Many thanks in advance for your donations.
ATTENTION YEAR 6 PARENTS & CARERS - Online High School Enrolment
If you have not completed your child's online enrolment for high school, please do so ASAP. If you have trouble completing the online process, please visit Mudgee High School for assistance. Thanks in advance for your co-operation.
PICKING YOUR CHILD UP EARLY
In the event that you have to pick your child up early, we ask that you come to the office and sign them out. You can then go to your child's classroom to collect them.
If you need to make a change to student routine at the end of the school day, we ask that you call the office by 2.30pm. A message will then be provided to your child indicating this change.
CHANGE OF STUDENT DETAILS - IMPORTANT
It is important that the school have correct student contact details in case of an emergency, including residential address, parent/carer email, phone numbers and any additional emergency contacts. If you wish to check your student details, or wish to make any changes, please phone the office for assistance.
Sentral For Parents Portal - 2024 & beyond
The Sentral for Parents Portal App allows you to pay online rather than sending cash with your child to school or coming into the office to pay in person.
It is really advantageous to have a portal account as more features will be rolled out in due course as we settle into the features that Sentral has available. Currently through the App, parents can notify the school of student absences, make online payments for excursions or incursions, and access Student Academic Reports to view and/or download.
The invoicing system may send an invoice in advance of a note coming home with your child. Please ask your child for any notes so you are fully aware of the details around the event or activity you are paying for. DO NOT pay an invoice until you have signed and returned any permission/consent forms.
As always, we are here to help if there are any issues. For further assistance with the App please visit https://www.sentral.com.au/parents
If you require an ‘Access Key’ to login, please contact the school office for assistance by phone 02 6372 2036 or email mudgee-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au .
