Book Week: What a fantastic display of exciting characters which paraded our basketball courts for the Book Week parade on Tuesday afternoon. I am sure our parents enjoyed the parade as much as our students and staff. It was wonderful to see so many parents, carers and family members join us. A big thank you to Mrs Vitnell and Mrs O'Brien for all their organisation.
Back Flips Against Bullying: Another great performance was delivered by the Back Flips performers with a very important message about bullying. The students gain a lot from these performances and practice powerful strategies throughout the show to help deal with bullies. Please talk to your child about the messages they received and the importance of treating everyone respectfully.
Father's Day Breakfast Big Bash: Next Wednesday morning we hope to see as many dad's and father figures again join us for the Father's Day Breakfast. Everyone is invited to come along from 8am for a tasty bacon and egg or sausage sandwich. There will be lots of fun activities including sport, tech Lego and dancing to enjoy with your child.
Don't forget the P&C Father's Day Stall is being held on Monday and Tuesday for Father's Day gifts. See flyer & details below.
Jolly Gym: Some very excited young people had their first experience of big school this week. We welcomed our Kindergarten students for 2025 to the Jolly Gym sessions on Tuesday and Thursday. These sessions being the first stage of our transition program. A big cheer goes to Mrs Caligari for her wonderful organisation and planning. The children had a great first experience at big school and we welcome these new families into our school community.
Registrations are still open as are enrolments for 2025.
Western Rugby- One of our captains, Max Murnane and Mr Carters have been away this week in Wagga Wagga for Western Rugby. Max was selected to represent the Western area and Mr Carters was a coach and selector. The Western team were successful in winning the Convenor Shield. Congratulations!
Upcoming Events: See below the infographic below which maps out all the events over the next few weeks of school.
Looking forward to seeing you Wednesday morning for breakfast!

Year 6 Canberra Wrap-up
Students from Mudgee Public have recently undertaken an education tour of the national capital. Students have been given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage, and democracy.
The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding of $45.00 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate was factored into the cost of the excursion, allowing a reduction in the cost for families. The students had a blast visiting such important places to Australian history and future.
A big thank you to former Mudgee athlete Alesha Bennetts, who took time out of her schedule to be one of the guides for Mudgee Public around the Australian Institute of Sport. Alesha has been training and working at the AIS for a number of years and made an extra effort to relate things back to the Mudgee area for context when taking the group tour. We wish Alesha all the best as she represents Australia in the 400m hurdles at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Peru this coming week.

Library News
Book Fair - Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Book fair this week! It was amazing seeing everyone embrace the love of reading and the costumes for the Book Parade were AWESOME! If you had to back-order a book, they should be here in about 1 weeks time. I will send them to your child's class as soon as they arrive.
Great Book Swap - Next week we are going to start collecting book donations for our 'Great Book Swap' in support of Indigenous Literacy Day. If you have any books that you are no longer using, we would be happy to take them off your hands! All book donations can be handed into the Library or your child's class. Our Great Book Swap will take place on Tuesday 3rd September. On this day, students will be able to purchase a book, for the cost of a gold coin donation. More information can be found on their website at https://www.indigenousliteracyfoundation.org.au/ild
For those interested in making donations before the event, please see the QR code below to donate at our MPS Great Book Swap website.
Happy Reading!

Office News
PARENTS / VISITORS ONSITE
Parents / Visitors that come to the school during school hours MUST report to the school office prior to visiting classrooms and indicate the reason for being onsite. For safety reasons, and in case of an emergency, you may be requested to show ID, and complete any necessary paperwork depending on the reason for your visit.
We thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we ensure the safety of all students and comply with the Department of Education policy.
SECONDHAND UNIFORMS NEEDED
Calling out to all parents & carers. We are in need of second-hand spare clothing for all aged students but, in particular, smaller sizes in shorts and trousers. In the cold wet weather, students do have accidents and, it is helpful if we can provide them with a spare set of clothes.
Many thanks in advance for your donations.
ATTENTION YEAR 6 PARENTS & CARERS - High School Enrolment
If you have not returned your High School Student Enrolment forms, please do so ASAP to the office or visit Mudgee High School for enrolment assistance. Thanks in advance for your co-operation.
PICKING YOUR CHILD UP EARLY
In the event that you have to pick your child up early, we ask that you come to the office and sign them out. You can then go to your child's classroom to collect them.
If you need to make a change to student routine at the end of the school day, we ask that you call the office by 2.30pm. A message will then be provided to your child indicating this change.
CHANGE OF STUDENT DETAILS - IMPORTANT
It is important that the school have correct student contact details in case of an emergency, including residential address, parent/carer email, phone numbers and any additional emergency contacts. If you wish to check your student details, or wish to make any changes, please phone the office for assistance.
Sentral For Parents Portal - 2024 & beyond
The Sentral for Parents Portal App allows you to pay online rather than sending cash with your child to school or coming into the office to pay in person.
It is really advantageous to have a portal account as more features will be rolled out in due course as we settle into the features that Sentral has available. Currently through the App, parents can notify the school of student absences, make online payments for excursions or incursions, and access Student Academic Reports to view and/or download.
The invoicing system may send an invoice in advance of a note coming home with your child. Please ask your child for any notes so you are fully aware of the details around the event or activity you are paying for. DO NOT pay an invoice until you have signed and returned any permission/consent forms.
As always, we are here to help if there are any issues. For further assistance with the App please visit https://www.sentral.com.au/parents
If you require an ‘Access Key’ to login, please contact the school office for assistance by phone 02 6372 2036 or email mudgee-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au .
