Zone Carnival- We were extremely lucky with the weather last Friday for the Zone Carnival. There were 70 students participating and some great competition for the spectators. Congratulations to all the students who made it to Zone. A big thank you to Mrs Marshall and all the staff that helped on the day. The Junior Boys and Girls relay teams, the Senior Boys and Girls relay teams and another 21 athletes have qualified for the Western Carnival in Week 9. Well done!
Indigenous Literacy Day- The playground was buzzing yesterday with students eager to find a new book. Thank you to all the families who helped with this great initiative. We had so many high-quality books donated, there were lots of teachers spotted purchasing books too! Mudgee Public has raised $360. This will go towards the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF) who provide books and learning resources to children living in remote Communities across Australia. A big thank you to Ms Roberts, Mrs Vitnell and members of our SRC team for their leadership in organising the stalls.
Dave Aldridge Memorial Touch Football Gala Day- over 150 students attended the Gala Day, enjoying the fabulous weather, team spirit and friendships. I am very proud to announce that Mudgee PS won the Shield this year, a wonderful achievement. The Shield is awarded to the school who displays the best team spirit on the day. Well done students!!
Tournament of Minds- A big "good luck" goes to the two teams heading to Orange this weekend for the annual Tournament of Minds competition. Mrs Tito, Mrs Baddock and the students have been working tirelessly over the last six weeks after school and on weekends to prepare for the Challenge.
Excursions- Kindergarten and Year 1 are looking forward to the week ahead as they head off to Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo and Red Hill in Gulgong, respectively. What an exciting time it will be for Kinder on their first big excursion. Year 5 and 6 will be attending Green Day on Thursday, at Mudgee Showground. This is always an interesting and informative environmental day hosted by Watershed Landcare.
Attendance-As the Opening Ceremony was celebrated for our Paralympics, here at MPS the OlympicAttendancechallenge continues, with many classes increasing their percentage substantially!
Check out our Week 4,5 and 6 whole classattendance rates and our SIXTH week of points tally!

Attendance is a team sport, so let's encourage our friends to be at school EVERY DAY THEY ARE WELL. Just like our favourite athletes, we need to work hard to play hard. Remember, EVERY DAY COUNTS! Attendance matters!
Mudgee Public School has begun using the Sentral Portal to notify families each day their child is absent from school. Families will receive a push notification as well as an email whenever their child is marked absent. You can then use the app to promptly explain the reason for your child's absence. Families can still notify the school of their child's absence by calling the front office, emailing the classroom teacher, or using Class Dojo, as well as now utilising our new notification system through the Sentral Portal. This new system is designed to streamline the process and ensure that absences are recorded accurately and promptly. If you have not yet engaged with the Sentral Portal for Parents App, we encourage you to download it as soon as possible. Should you need assistance or require your access key, please contact the school office.

Congratulations to the following students on receiving a Principal Award or Deputy Principal Awards in the last fortnight.
CANTEEN HELPERS - Our Canteen requires your support!!!
Volunteers play an important role in keeping the Canteen open so if you can provide any amount of time, on any day, your assistance would be greatly appreciated. As little as an hour in the morning would be greatly beneficial and assist in keeping the canteen open 5 days a week.
No need for a qualification... please contact our Canteen manager via the school office on Ph 6372 2036

Office News
PARENTS / VISITORS ONSITE
Parents / Visitors that come to the school during school hours MUST report to the school office prior to visiting classrooms and indicate the reason for being onsite. For safety reasons, and in case of an emergency, you may be requested to show ID, and complete any necessary paperwork depending on the reason for your visit.
We thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we ensure the safety of all students and comply with the Department of Education policy.
SECONDHAND UNIFORMS NEEDED
Calling out to all parents & carers. We are in need of second-hand spare clothing for all aged students but, in particular, smaller sizes in shorts and trousers. In the cold wet weather, students do have accidents and, it is helpful if we can provide them with a spare set of clothes.
Many thanks in advance for your donations.
ATTENTION YEAR 6 PARENTS & CARERS - High School Enrolment
If you have not returned your High School Student Enrolment forms, please do so ASAP to the office or visit Mudgee High School for enrolment assistance. Thanks in advance for your co-operation.
PICKING YOUR CHILD UP EARLY
In the event that you have to pick your child up early, we ask that you come to the office and sign them out. You can then go to your child's classroom to collect them.
If you need to make a change to student routine at the end of the school day, we ask that you call the office by 2.30pm. A message will then be provided to your child indicating this change.
CHANGE OF STUDENT DETAILS - IMPORTANT
It is important that the school have correct student contact details in case of an emergency, including residential address, parent/carer email, phone numbers and any additional emergency contacts. If you wish to check your student details, or wish to make any changes, please phone the office for assistance.
Sentral For Parents Portal - 2024 & beyond
The Sentral for Parents Portal App allows you to pay online rather than sending cash with your child to school or coming into the office to pay in person.
It is really advantageous to have a portal account as more features will be rolled out in due course as we settle into the features that Sentral has available. Currently through the App, parents can notify the school of student absences, make online payments for excursions or incursions, and access Student Academic Reports to view and/or download.
The invoicing system may send an invoice in advance of a note coming home with your child. Please ask your child for any notes so you are fully aware of the details around the event or activity you are paying for. DO NOT pay an invoice until you have signed and returned any permission/consent forms.
As always, we are here to help if there are any issues. For further assistance with the App please visit https://www.sentral.com.au/parents
If you require an ‘Access Key’ to login, please contact the school office for assistance by phone 02 6372 2036 or email mudgee-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au .

Researchers from The University of NSW and Mid-Western Regional Council would love to hear from you! Participation involves joining other members of your community in four meetings across a four-week period, totaling 14 hours of your time. This process is called a Community Jury.
