Farewell Tracey Cameron - After 5 1/2 wonderful years as our Canteen Manager, the amazing Tracey Cameron will be finishing up this Friday, 20th September. Today we held a special secret assembly, as well as a K-2 Guard of Honour to acknowledge Tracey's incredible contributions to our community. We want to take this opportunity to thank Tracey for all her hard work, and the effort she’s poured into looking after our kids (and even us teachers!) with healthy lunches and special treats. Tracey has been a huge part of Mudgee Public School, and we’ll truly miss her. Tracey, we wish you all the best in your next adventure! In the meantime, Jemma Williams will be stepping in as Canteen Manager, and the P&C will be advertising the position soon. Thank you, Jemma, for your support during this transition. Please join us in thanking Tracey and wishing her well.
Child Safety Handbook - I am excited to share with you a fabulous resource for all homes, which is the“NSWPolice LegacyChildSafetyHandbook” is a comprehensive and free resource to assist parents, carers as well as teachers on a range of topics essential to childsafety. There are so many wonderful messages and ideas for you to share with your children as well as things to be aware of as parents.
This new digital edition (link below) includes important content updates from: NSW Rural Fire Service (NEW Fire Danger Ratings), NSW Health (Water & Pool Safety), Transport NSW (School Bus Safety) just to name a few.
Please take the time to have a look through this document.
Tournament of Minds- We are so incredibly proud of our two Tournament of Minds teams. Both teams competed in the Regional Final held at Orange Public School on Sunday the 8th of September. The Arts team and Language Literature team made up of 7 students (from Year 5 and Year 6) created and spent many hours rehearsing before presenting their long-term challenge exceptionally well on the day. They collaborated using their creative thinking skills to solve their spontaneous challenge with outstanding feedback. Both teams were presented with first place ribbons and a trophy.
The two teams will now compete in the Tournament of Minds State Final held at UNSW Kensington campus in Sydney this Sunday (22nd September). I would like to wish these students the best of luck with their next challenge
A special mention goes out to Mudgee High School as their two teams placed first in their categories (The Arts and STEM) and will be competing at the State Final. It is the first year in quite some time that Mudgee High School has competed in the Tournament of Minds and many of the students in the two teams are former Mudgee Public School students.
Thanks to Mrs Tito and Mrs Baddock for their work in this space and a special mention to Mrs Tito for not just supporting these teams but also for writing this little article. Keep an eye out in the Mudgee Guardian for more celebrations from Mrs Tito! See below some photos from TOM, as well as some from Game Changer.

Social Ventures Hub Day- Yesterday, we had a wonderful day here at MPS where we welcomed nearly 30 school principals and executives from "The Connection" which is a leadership group the MPS leadership team has been a part of for the last nearly 4 years. The theme for the day was around strategies to achieve whole school wellbeing and we were able to use part of this day to showcase our amazing school. After a presentation from myself and Mrs George, visitors went on a Scavenger Hunt where they were able to view The Podcast, the Wellbeing Hub, Our Chicken Coop, The Kitchen Garden and Eco Warriors, a lesson on "the brain" from Mrs Redding and a visit to "The Shed" in our Support Unit. It was so lovely not just to showcase our school but to hear the overwhelmingly positive feedback, but it was a true privilege to sit back and reflect on what amazing students, staff and programs we have here at MPS. Further reflection from our leadership team yesterday identified that a "Scavenger Hunt" activity for our community could be a great way to share some of the wonderful practices we have here at MPS - Stay Tuned. We also discussed ways we can better authentically engage our community in learning and are well on the way to implementing some new ideas. See below some photos, as well as some information that we shared with the leaders.
MultiSports Day - Yesterday, we had nearly 20 students from our Support Unit head off to Dubbo for a MultiSports Day. By all reports it was an amazing day and so wonderful to see our students in there and having a go. The true spirit of opportunity and inclusion was on display. A huge thank you to Mrs Pretty for her organisation as well as.
PBL Assembly- Our Term 3 PBL Assembly is due to take place next Thursday at 10:45am. Students receiving an infant's awards will bring home an invitation today. Primary invitations will go home on Monday. I am looking forward to celebrating these achievements with you all on Thursday.
Western Athletics- Best of luck to our students at Western Athletics today. A big thanks to Ms Marshall who is going along on behalf of Cudgegong Zone PSSA, as well as a big thanks to Mrs Baddock for prepping the relay teams. Stay tuned to Facebook where we will share our results.
Staffing Update- This week, I met with Mrs Seis our School Administrative Manager and she will need to take leave for the rest of the year. Mrs Tuit is currently relieving as SAM and is happy to do so until we can find a more long term replacement. An advertisement is currently out for relieving SAM for Term 4. I will keep you all updated with this process. https://education.nsw.gov.au/noticeboard-opportunities/2024/09/releiving-sam-level-3-mudgee-public-school
Attendance- I don't want to steal Mrs George's thunder further on in the newsletter in her attendance piece but, it would be remiss of me not to mention Year 2 who are our first grade to have a whole week with 0 - ZERO - unexplained absences. That's awesome! Congratulations Year 2.
Upcoming Events: See below the infographic which maps out all the events over the next few weeks of school.
Looking forward to finishing Term 3 on a high! Have a lovely weekend and week ahead.

CANTEEN HELPERS - Our Canteen requires your support!!!
Volunteers play an important role in keeping the Canteen open so if you can provide any amount of time, on any day, your assistance would be greatly appreciated. As little as an hour in the morning would be greatly beneficial and assist in keeping the canteen open 5 days a week.
No need for a qualification... please contact our Canteen manager via the school office on Ph 6372 2036

Library News
PRC - Congratulations to the 37 students who completed their Premiers Reading Challenge this year. You will be receiving your award next term. For those of you in year 6, I hope that you continue to participate in the challenges every year in High School, and for the rest, I look forward to challenging you next year with the PRC! Any books that you read from now on, can be counted towards your PRC for next year. 🙂
Overdues - There are a lot of overdue books across the school at the moment. Please take the time in the holidays to look for any books that you may have and return to MPS.
Have a fun and safe holiday! Happy Reading!

Office News
PARENTS / VISITORS ONSITE
Parents / Visitors that come to the school during school hours MUST report to the school office prior to visiting classrooms and indicate the reason for being onsite. For safety reasons, and in case of an emergency, you may be requested to show ID, and complete any necessary paperwork depending on the reason for your visit.
We thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we ensure the safety of all students and comply with the Department of Education policy.
PICKING YOUR CHILD UP EARLY
In the event that you have to pick your child up early, we ask that you come to the office and sign them out. You can then go to your child's classroom to collect them.
If you need to make a change to student routine at the end of the school day, we ask that you call the office by 2.30pm. A message will then be provided to your child indicating this change.
CHANGE OF STUDENT DETAILS - IMPORTANT
It is important that the school have correct student contact details in case of an emergency, including residential address, parent/carer email, phone numbers and any additional emergency contacts. If you wish to check your student details, or wish to make any changes, please phone the office for assistance.
Sentral For Parents Portal - 2024 & beyond
The Sentral for Parents Portal App allows you to pay online rather than sending cash with your child to school or coming into the office to pay in person.
It is really advantageous to have a portal account as more features will be rolled out in due course as we settle into the features that Sentral has available. Currently through the App, parents can notify the school of student absences, make online payments for excursions or incursions, and access Student Academic Reports to view and/or download.
The invoicing system may send an invoice in advance of a note coming home with your child. Please ask your child for any notes so you are fully aware of the details around the event or activity you are paying for. DO NOT pay an invoice until you have signed and returned any permission/consent forms.
As always, we are here to help if there are any issues. For further assistance with the App please visit https://www.sentral.com.au/parents
If you require an ‘Access Key’ to login, please contact the school office for assistance by phone 02 6372 2036 or email mudgee-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au .

Would you like to join a community discussion on how speeding is managed in your local area and receive $40 an hour for your contributions?
Researchers from The University of NSW and Mid-Western Regional Council would love to hear from you! Participation involves joining other members of your community in four meetings across a four-week period, totaling 14 hours of your time. This process is called a Community Jury. In these meetings, you will hear from road safety experts, have an opportunity to discuss the information with the group, and develop a set of ideas to encourage safer speeds in our community. No experience is necessary and eligibility criteria apply.
