MPS Newsletter: Term 3, Week 3 - 30 July 2021
Principal's Report
Education Week
Education Week is an annual celebration of NSW public education and the achievements of our schools, students and education system. This year’s theme is ‘Lifelong Learners’ and celebrates education as a lifelong journey from before a child enters an early childhood setting, progressing to primary and secondary school, and continuing their learning journey into adulthood; learning a trade, entering tertiary education, or the workforce.
I am so proud of these videos created by our students and teachers which celebrates this theme in many different ways.
Jolly Gym
This week, we welcomed many of our 2022 Kindergarten students for their first Jolly Gym Session. Mrs Sanders and her team did a fabulous job and we hope you all had a fun time. We are looking forward to seeing all these wonderful people again next week!
COVID-Safe Level 2 Restrictions continue
We have been notified that Level 2 restrictions will continue for us here at Mudgee Public School and in Regional NSW.
Communication Review
We are reviewing our communication procedures at school to look at the best ways our parents and community can connect with their children's learning as well as stay updated and engaged with school events. We will be running a review as teachers, but will also be looking for some parents to join in on the disucssions. If you are interested, please express interest by registering via this link: https://forms.gle/5WEDk7XnWKna6SH58
100 Days of Kindergarten
One of the favourite days on the calendar is without doubt the 100 Days of Kindergarten celebration which was last Friday. Congratulations to these fabulous students on achieving this milestone. Didn't they all look wonderful?

Class Visits - Stages 2 and 1
Over the last two weeks, I have enjoyed classroom visits in Stages 1 and 2, mainly helping out with Mathematics. So many wonderful things happening, but more importantly it has been great interacting with the students. Over the next fortnight I hope to visit Early Stage 1 and Stage 3. Here are some photos of my visits over the past fortnight.
Have a great fortnight.

Library News
PRC - We now have 49 names on the PRC tree! Well done to all those students who have finished their challenge. For those still reading, you have until the end of Week 6, 20 August, to complete the challenge.
Book Club - Issue 5 orders are due back Monday 2 August. Please have all online and cash orders completed by then. No late orders can be accepted sorry.
Book Fair - Week 7- This is our annual event that allows students to purchase new books for themselves as well as raising funds for Library resources. This year will be similar to last year, again due to current restrictions we cannot have parents come to school. Students will be able to preview books in their Library lesson and fill out a 'wishlist' to bring home. It is then up to parents to either pay for the books online or send money in with the students to purchase books during the Book Fair. Please do not send money in before Week 7. Look out for more information in the lead up to this event.
Book Week - Week 7- This is the week that we celebrate all things BOOKS! The theme this year is 'Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds'. On Wednesday 25 August students are invited to dress up as a book character or something related to the theme. Unfortunately due to the current restrictions, we are unable to have a parade or visitors, however we will be sure to take lots of photos for everyone to view on our website and Facebook page.
Happy Reading!

Class Spotlight - 3G
3G has had a wonderful 2021, our learning journey gets more exciting every term! From taking a trip around the world learning about the cultural celebrations in other countries, to landing back on our island home and taking a journey with Burra, the monster who eats his way around our iconic Australian landmarks. The adventure has been spectacular!
Our friends in 3G have been captivated by all things Australia, particularly through our literary texts. This past week, we have been learning about “My Country” by Dorothea Mackeller. Through the traditional Japanese poetry style Haiku, each student wrote a beautiful poem, describing our vast and beautiful homeland, Australia.
In between our travels, Year 3 have been participating in Maths groups, each Monday and Tuesday. 3G, 3L and 3C combine with their friends to engage and share their love of Maths. The students have thoroughly enjoyed their new Maths groups and being exposed to a range of different teaching methods from our wonderful Year 3 teachers!
Mrs Danielle George & Mrs Mel James - Class Teachers
Meet the Staff - Mrs Belle Moylan
Hi MPS Community! My name is Belle Moylan and feel so lucky to be working at such a wonderful school, full of beautiful students, staff and families! Over the next couple of terms I will be helping Year 3 with their Literacy and Numeracy, as well as getting Sporty with some Year 1 and 2’s! I have a pretty colourful teaching career having taught a range of subjects from Early Childhood to Year 12 in Remote Indigenous and Main Stream Schooling, EAL/D and Special/Inclusive Education in both NSW and the NT. I live with my Husband, 2 kids, 1 cat and 4 chooks out of town where we run our short stay accommodation property (when Covid allows us to!). I love to renovate, swim and dream about being in 30 degrees and on a beach throughout Mudgee’s winters!! I am so fortunate to have had such amazing opportunities and experiences, and am really looking forward to meeting you all and being a part of MPS!
Mudgee Newbees - Playgroup
Mudgee Newbees is on for Term 3 and we can’t wait to see all our future MPS students and their families. We’ll be operating under the current guidelines. Parents, when you arrive, please sign in using the QR code and make sure you have your face mask. We’ll also be paying attention to our social distancing and there will be plenty of hand sanitiser around for us to use. I look forward to seeing lots of smiling faces at Newbees this term!
