"Last week the SRC did some fundraising for Jeans for Genes. The SRC Reps set up a stall and sold merchandise every recess, in both the infants and primary colas. By Friday, we had sold ALL of the merchandise! Everyone was encouraged to wear jeans on Friday and donate a gold coin. We were very proud to raise $1784.60." - Hope Gilmour 4E SRC representative
A special thanks must go to the canteen ladies for making such wonderful BLUE Jellies, yoghurts and pikelet treats for the students and contributed $203.25. The CMRI Mudgee Committee were 'blown' away with our fundraising efforts. Congratulations to all students and the community, you should be very proud! A BIG thank you to Mrs Endacott, Miss Parish and all SRC Reps. (Images below)

COVID-Safe Level 2 Restrictions continue
I wrote to you all on Wednesday to notify that we continue to be on Level 2 restrictions, which essentially means, we are all here onsite for our schooling (See the table below). Whilst I appreciate there is some confusion around students and staff who have attended the Dubbo LGA and other LGAs under stay at home orders, I write to assure you that students are permitted to come to school. Why is this the case some may ask... In it's simplest terms, even if you are on stay at home orders, leaving home for education where remote learning is not an option is a reasonable excuse to leave home. As we are a level 2 school, our learning is onsite and face-to-face. As always, if you are unwell, please stay at home, get a test and wait for the results before returning to school.
As per normal, please keep us in the loop via your child's classroom teacher as to the reasons for any absences.
Please dont hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
Thanks for your support with all of this. We really appreciate there is a lot of anxiety and confusion in the community and we genuinely appreciate the respectful way you all work with us.
In Week 7, we will be conducting a readiness test as we are expected to transition to NAPLAN online in 2022. The readiness test will involve Year 3 and 5 students sitting a practice test to test levels of technology and ensure our network will be able to handle it. It's important to note that this readiness test is not used to assess student achievement.

They will bring home a wishlist from the Book Fair next week. Sadly, again, this year we are not allowed parents onsite, however there will be pictures of items posted onto the school Facebook page as well as being emailed through the PLN.
Book Week -Week 7- To celebrate Book Week we are having a few exciting things happening in the Library. Dress Up Day will be Wednesday 25th August. From the Office
Updating School Contact information - "Has your contact information changed?" It is important that the school office has the correct student information and contact details in case of an emergency or illness. Please contact the school office to make any changes and updates.
Lost Property - Items that are found not labelled are brought to the office and placed in our lost property areas. Please label all your childs belongings and we can then assist by returning them directly to the students concerned.
Student Health Care Plans - We have many students at Mudgee Public School who suffer from Asthma, Allergies and other health conditions. It is very important that we keep all our student health care plans up to date to ensure that we are aware of what procedures to follow should your child have an asthma attack, an allergic reaction or other health condition where, appropriate action needs to be taken. If your child has a health condition, please ensure that we have an up to date Individual Health Care plan signed by the doctor. If you need assistance with this matter please do not hesitate to contact the school office. Many thanks for your co-operation in keeping your children safe.
"We are here to help you!" Regards, Your Friendly Administration Team

Class Spotlight - LL
LL is made up of students from Year 2 through to Year 6. Mrs Gregory and Mrs Altimira share the teaching of LL and are supported by Mrs Fowler. We feel lucky to have such a great team working collaboratively for our class.
Learning about our feelings and emotions is an important part of our classroom. In LL we are using the Zones of Regulation, a program designed to support students in identifying their feelings, understanding how behaviour impacts themselves and others. It also teaches students problem solving skills and helps them to discover what tools they can use to regulate their Zones. This is embedded across our all learning areas.
In Science, we are learning about the Solar System starting with the Sun, Earth, and Moon. As the term continues, we will investigate Earth's place in the universe and learn about the surrounding planets. During our lessons we integrate the use of technology using our school iPads. Students love using the Jamboard program to add their own 'post it notes' to record their answers and demonstrate their knowledge.
This term in LL students have been creating intricate and eye-catching artworks during computer lessons. They have learnt to use various online drawing programs and created some amazing images. Students will continue to create computer artworks learning to use Sketchpad to illustrate their poetry they have begun writing. Students are writing their own poems using various poetic devices they have learnt in English. Later this term students will look at songs and lyrics as a form of poetry.
One of the class's favourite times has to be our cooking lessons each Friday. Students combine skills in Maths, English, and Life Skills to follow visual recipes to cook simple meals each week. Students are involved in all aspects of recipe reading and writing, preparation, cooking and clean up, BUT the best bit is the last step ‘Eat and Enjoy!’.

Class Spotlight - 5/6O
5/6O have had an exciting and busy start to Term 3. We have hopped on a plane and jetted off to explore the cultures and wonders of the continent of Asia. In Science, we have boarded a rocket and blasted off to explore the planets in our solar system. Our adventures so far have been spectacular!
5/6O have been getting out of their comfort zones with our new CAPA rotations we are doing with the other Stage 3 classes. The past few weeks have seen 5/6O getting into character, building stories and embracing their silly sides in Drama lessons. Next week, students of 5/6O will be getting creative with Mrs King and constructing Lego robotics. How exciting!
This week, 5/6O were given the challenging task of using their knowledge of fractions and decimals to crack codes in an ‘escape room’ style activity to save the school from a big disaster. Thankfully most groups were about to crack all four codes in the time frame and the school was saved!
We are looking forward to many more exciting things coming up later in Term 3.

Wonder Recycling 'Bread Bag' Rewards Promotion
The bread bag promotion through Wonder White has now ended. Due to COVID they had extended the collection period and every school in NSW has been awarded bonus points. Our school now has 1500 points to spend before the 3 September on sports equipment through RHS. Thank you to Mrs Donna Doyle for coordinating this promotion and I'm sure we will manage to get some useful equipment whatever that may be.
