I hope everyone had a great long weekend and were able to stay warm. It has been a week of wonderful activities here at school. The students certainly enjoyed being cozy in their jumpers of choice on Wednesday. What a great idea from our SRC Health and Wellbeing team.
Athletics Carnival:Next Friday, weather permitting, is our school Athletics Carnival at Walkers Oval. All students from K-6 should have received a permission note to attend. The students, 8 years and above have been practicing and trialing for the event.
There will be a canteen available for snacks and a Sausage sizzle provided for all students at lunchtime. Please note there will be NO Canteen Orders accepted on this day.
We’d love some parent helpers to support, particularly with timekeeping and field events. We’re also looking for parent volunteers to assist with the BBQ on the day. If you’re handy with the tongs or just happy to help out, we’d love to have you on board.
If you're available to lend a hand, please click on the link below and fill in the time slot. Your help will make the day run smoothly and we thank you for your continued support
SRC: The whole SRC team met on Friday afternoon to report on their Teams achievements and plans for next Semester. It was fantastic to see so many student representatives having a voice, discussing their achievements and answering questions about their portfolios from the floor. The SRC portfolios have given the students a significant role in the school and an important leadership voice for their fellow peers.
PBL Assembly: A reminder -students can return awards as soon as they have the required amount—there’s no need to wait until the end of term. Please ensure awards are handed in by Wednesday of Week 9 so we have time to prepare for the Assembly - Term 2 closing date for Awards - 25 June
Thank you for your continued support in celebrating Positive Behaviour and Learning at Mudgee PS.
Naidoc Week: Mudgee PS will be celebrating Naidoc Week in Week 10. There are many activities organised for the week, however, Thursday July 3, will be a major celebration for families and students together. this will include our annual BBQ, Indigenous Games, Art Show, a collaborative artwork and more. Please see the flyer below for more details.
NSW Junior League Chess Competition: Sixteen of our Chess savvy students travelled to Gulgong today to compete for the very first time in the NSW Junior League Chess competition. The students have been practicing regularly at lunchtime Chess Club with Mr Harris. A big thank you to Mr Harris and Mr Pryor who have volunteered their time to support our new and experienced players. We look forward to hearing how they go in the next Newsletter. Have a great weekend,

Principal's Awards
Congratulations to the following students that have received a principal or deputy principal award over the past fortnight.
🥶 The cooler weather has arrived, and with it, lots of sniffles, sneezes, and stay-at-home days 🤒🤧 Unfortunately, it's also made its mark on our Attendance Data 📊 For the first time this year, EVERY grade has fallen below our target of 90% attendance 😔📉
💚 We absolutely understand that illness is real and keeping our friends safe from contagious bugs is important, thank you for doing your part🦠🧼 But do you know what’s just as important? Letting the school know why your child is absent📲✍️📧📞
Each day your child is away, it's essential that the school receives an explanation for their absence. Here’s how you can do this:
✅ Through the Sentral Portal App for Parents ✅ On Class Dojo ✅ Via email to the class teacher ✅ By calling the school office ✅ With a handwritten note to the classroom teacher
🕐 These explanations should ideally be submitted the day your child is away or the day they return to school, but must be done within 7 days of the absence ⏳📅
📌 Did you know? Any unexplained absence not resolved within 7 days will be permanently recorded as unexplained 🚫📝
Let’s work together to keep our records accurate and our students on track for learning success 💪📚💛

Library News
Book Club - Issue 4 Book Club brochures have been sent home. Please see your teacher if you did not receive one. There are some great items in this Issue, and all sales help raise reward funds that are used to add resources to the Library and classrooms. All online LOOP orders and cash orders are due by Friday, June 20th. Cash orders can be sent to me in the Library.
PRC - The Premiers Reading Challenge is still going strong! I was able to add more names to the PRC Tree in the Library, as more students finished their challenge. Remember: K-2 need to read 30 books and 3-6 need to read 20 books. The challenge finishes on September 19th. More info can be found at www.premiersreadingchallenge.nsw.edu.au
Best Borrower award - Every term, one student from each class is awarded the 'Best Borrower' award. The winner gets to choose a free book from the Library Prize Books to keep. To win, you need to be the most consistent at borrowing and returning your books. So don't forget to bring your Library bags, and borrow, every week in your Library time! 🙂
Overdue books - There are a lot of overdue books across the school at the moment. Please check at home, to see if you have any books that need returning.
Happy Reading!
