External Validation: I start with some absolutely fantastic news to celebrate with you all! Yesterday, Mudgee Public School participated in our External Validation Panel, a thorough review process that takes place every 4 years and looks at how well our school is performing across the 14 elements of the School Excellence Framework. Schools create an on-balance judgement of Working Towards Delivering, Delivering, Sustaining and Growing or Excelling and the panel validates these judgements based on a deep analysis and submission of evidence.
We are proud to share that our school was validated asExcellingin 13 out of 14 areas assessed by the School Excellence Framework. This outstanding result reflects the hard work, and commitment to our current school plan of our amazing staff over the past five years.
The panel’s feedback was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the incredible efforts our teachers and staff make every day to support our students’ learning and wellbeing. This achievement is a true testament to the strong, supportive culture we have here at Mudgee Public School.
Looking ahead, the feedback from the panel and our staff will guide us as we plan for the future and continue to improve our school. We are excited about the directions we will take in the next School Planning Cycle and are committed to providing the best possible education for our children.
Bullying: Mudgee Public School is proud to be participating in the 2025 National Week of Action Against Bullying and Violence. To show our support, students are invited to wear a splash of orangewith their school uniform on Monday 18th August. This could be orange hair ties, socks, wristbands, bandanas or scarves, to symbolise their commitment to creating a safe and respectful school environment. On this day, students will also enjoy the exciting and inspiring annual performance of ‘Backflips Against Bullying' a dynamic show that uses acrobatics and powerful messages to promote kindness, resilience, and standing up against bullying.
To start the campaign, this week classes have been participating in a Kindness Challenge. Classes were presented with a bingo board with a series of challenges to complete. Winning classes will be enjoying some hot chips for lunch today.
Stewart House Pyjama Day: Next Friday, we will be participating in the Stewart House - Take a Break - Pyjama Day to help raise much needed funds for Stewart House. I have included a blurb about Stewart House below, but essentially its an incredibly important service that provides for support for many of our students year after year. Stewart House requires over 5 million dollars to run each year, yet only receives $300,000 in government funding. Students will join school all across the state next week, by being able to wear pyjamas on Friday and we encourage if at all possible to bring a gold coin donation. It is also our mid-term Fun Friday next week, so each class will take a session to watch a movie to celebrate both Fun Friday and raise awareness for the Stewart House - Take A Break Pyjama Day.
SRC Update: It is just past the mid-point of the year, and we will be looking to add to our extensive Student Leadership Portfolios. As mentioned earlier in the year, we will not be removing students from their leadership positions like we have in the past for Semester 2. Primary Students are welcome to fill in a nomination form during class with a teacher endorsement if they would like to be considered for one of six leadership portfolios. A panel comprising of Mrs O'Hara, Mr Hough and our School Captains, Claudia and Zac, will review the nomination forms and look to see which students might be appropriate additions to particular portfolios. Students will find out if they have been successful in Week 6 following our All Portfolio SRC Meeting being held in the same week.
Y-Safe: This week, students will have received a note about our Y-Safety special education session for parents and carers on cyber safety which will take place at school on Wednesday 27 August from 6-7pm. This is an important topic for all parents and carers and the more we can educate ourselves, the better equipped we are to protect our children when online. I encourage you to visit the two links below. One is the pre-survey which can help us tailor content to meet our parent needs, and the other is our school's very own online safety hub. We encourage all parents to complete the pre-survey as this will help inform our school community approach to cyber safety moving forward.

Check-in Assessments: From Week 6 - 10, students in Years 3 to 6 will participate in 'Check-in Assessments' for Mathematics, Reading and Writing. These mandatory DoE assessments help us track progress and provide targeted support to enhance learning outcomes. We encourage all students to approach these assessments with confidence and do their best.
Father's Day and Book Week: Mark in your diaries, Wednesday 3 September! On this day we will be celebrating Father's Day with our annual Father's Day Breakfast, as well as our Book Parade. Students will be able to dress up as their favourite Book Character on this day. The parade will be straight after the breakfast to allow many dads to stick around and watch. Who knows, maybe a few Dads may even come dressed as their favourite book character. See Mrs Vitnell's Library News below for more information about Book Fair, Book Parade and our Great Book Swap.

Attendance Spotlight
This week in Attendance Spotlight there are some great wins 🎉but also a few things we need to work on together.
Yes ✅ we reached our Mission Attendance Target 🎯BUT our whole school attendance dipped below our 90% goal 📉 We’ve also noticed an increase in unexplained absences❓
💡 Please remember: Each day your child is away, we need an explanation. You can let us know in any of these ways: 📱 Sentral Portal App for Parents 📧 Email to your class teacher or school 📞 Phone call to the school 💬 Message via Class Dojo 📝 The good ole’ handwritten note to the classroom teacher
🌟 Wins of the Week:
🥇 Year 3 – Highest attendance rate at 92.8% 👏👏 🏆 Year 3 – Only TWO unexplained absences 🙌 🥈 Year 6 – Just THREE unexplained absences 🎯
Let’s cheer on these awesome efforts 🎉 and work together to keep our attendance climbing ⬆️ so our students get the best learning opportunities possible 💛
