Our Presentation Day will take place next Thursday 9 December and will be similar to last year where we will run three ceremonies.
Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions we must limit our parent/guests and they must have an official role in the presentation. Parents of students who are receiving "major awards" or "Student of The Year" will be sent a personal invitation today. Parents and carers of students who are receiving other awards will be sent a different letter so that they know their child will be receiving an award. Whilst we can’t invite you all to attend in person, the students and staff at Mudgee Public School would like to invite you to view our special ceremony online.
While our Presentation Assembly focuses on the outstanding achievement of some of students, all our students need to be very proud of the progress they have made in what has been a challenging and forever changing year for learning. I congratulate all students for doing their personal best and progressing on their own learning in 2021.
One of the Highlights - Some Christmas Cheer
Lets focus on some Chirstmas cheer! We've missed out on lots of things this year due to all these restrictions and one of the things we haven't been able to do is much singing. How sad is that? This is why I think it was super exciting for Kindergarten to finally be able to get together outdoors and sing! First up was 'Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer'. .
Class Structures for 2022
We are currently working through our class structures for 2022. It is highly likely we will operate with 23 mainstream classes and 6 support classes next year. On Wednesday of Week 11, students will hopefully have the opportunity to spend a session with their anticipated teacher for 2022.
Student Leaders
On Thursday, 6 Year 5 boys and 6 Year 5 girls, spoke to the whole school on why they should be the 2022 student school leaders. Public Speaking is not an easy task and I congratulate the students who delivered their speeches with confidence and clarity. Well done! GIRLS - Charlotte Annetts, Piper Etherington, Caitlin Holleman, Grace Milson-Hamer, Lily Rutkowski, Summer Singer BOYS - Zac Andrews, Spencer Brown, Jacob Clay, Jasper Doyle, Charlie Robertson, Jake Wolfson. The 2022 student leaders will be announced at our Presentation Assembly.
I think this is an important time to acknowledge our 2021 school leaders Dean, Maggie, Lachie and Meilana for an outstanding job they have done throughout the year running assemblies, speaking at special events and representing the school on several occasions. They have also been wonderful role models for our younger students and assisted in running all the school events. Their last responsibility will be running our Presentation Assembly on Thursday 9 December.
Communication from the Classroom to Parents
We are looking to review the communication from classroom to the parents. At the moment we are using the PLN email system and would like your feedback to see if we can improve that communication to you. Could you please lend 1-2 minutes of your time to complete this short 5 question survey to help us make sure we get it right!
Our PBL award assembly is scheduled for Week 11, Tuesday 11 December. This will be similar to Presentation Day, whereby we wont be able to invite too many parents, therefore, we will provide a Zoom link.
All awards need to be handed in to their teacher by no later than next Wednesday 8 December. I look forward to celebrating all student achievements.
Swimming - Yr2 and Support Unit
Students from Year 2 and the Support Unit have just completed two weeks of intensive swimming lessons, as part of the school's Learn to Swim program. Through the 8 lessons, all students showed growth and learnt valuable skills to keep them safe around the water. We worked on rescue techniques, stroke correction and how to identify safe places to swim. Well done to all the students who participated in our lessons, and to the teachers and instructors that gave the lessons and made sure the children could be safe. It was a wonderful finish today, with sunny skies and warmth in the air - a welcome change to the previous weeks. We hope that the boys and girls can keep working hard on their swimming and hopefully be able to join in the school swimming carnival next year when they are in Year 3.
Thank you for supporting the kids of MPS to be safe around the water. Please take care when going on holidays, especially around the water.
Kind regards,
Mr Smith

Borrowing has finished for the year! Please return all Library books to the Library this week. There are a lot of overdue books across the school at the moment, that need to be returned. Please do this ASAP.
PRC certificates were handed out this week in Library time. Congratulations to the students who received a certificate this year. Well done. We run the PRC every year, so it's never too late to participate.
Final Library lessons will be next week, as I am stocktaking in Week 11. Please ensure all books are returned before the stocktake begins.
Happy Reading!

From The Office
Messages for students - If you need to collect your child early from school please:
- Send a written note in the morning with your child to the class teacher so the student can be in the office at the designated time you request. Alternatively, call the office to make arrangements for collection and the office staff will then coordinate a message to staff and arrange departure for students.
- Students must always depart from the front office. Please call the office to notify the staff of your arrival and a friendly staff member will escort the child/children to parent/carers waiting at the front gate.
- Change of after school routine messages should be phoned through by 2PM to ensure messages are delivered to students before bell time.
Lost Property - Is your child missing their school hat, jumper, lunch box etc? Let your class teacher know and the student can be shown where the lost property articles are kept to have a look. Please label all items so they can be returned when found.

3C Coding
Miss Ashlee Clare (Teacher)
During term 4, 3C has enjoyed participating in Friday afternoon coding sessions with ‘Sphero Edu’ robots. We have gained a deeper understanding of what coding is and how to apply STEAM skills to problem solve and enhance our critical thinking.
What is coding?
“Coding is when you give instructions to a robot so they can follow your commands.” - Cailtyn
“In technology sessions, we learnt how to program Spheros. We coded them by giving certain instructions and experimented with our codes, learning from our mistakes.”- Oscar
Working in pairs, students have learnt to:
-connect their Sphero robot to the Sphero Edu app on an iPad
- aim and orientate their Sphero robots relative to their position
-change their Sphero robot colour
- ‘drive’ their robot by controlling the direction and speed
- program their robot by drawing a path and using a sequence of ‘code blocks’
- apply changes to codes in order to improve the outcome
-work collaboratively
