We have had such an exciting week at Mudgee Public School. It really is pleasing to be back to some normality. Last Friday, Kindergarten colour day was Blue which included a visit from our local police force (PHOTO GALLERY). This week, we celebrated 2/2/22 with TWOSDay for Year 2 (PHOTOS), our Zone Swimming Carnival, a visit from the South Sydney Rabbitohs ahead of their charity shield match on Saturday and our Kindergarten students were today greeted by our local ambulance officers as part of their yellow colour day.
Welcome Back Visitors + Term 1 Guidelines for remainder of Term
It was with great pleasure that I shared with you earlier this week, the new operational guidelines for the remainder of the Term. If you missed this correspondence - CLICK HERE TO VIEW
As of Monday, we are able to welcome parents back onsite for pick up and drop off. This is really exciting and we are looking forward to having more engagement with you as parents. One thing that I would like to ask of you all is to probably not hang around too long in the morning, particularly with our younger students. One of the things we have noticed over the past year, has been the increase in confidence in our little people and how well they have separated from mum and dad and started their days with very few tears. Of course, we are there to support you and your children whenever it is needed.
Next week I will share with you information about our Investiture Assembly, our Yarn and Tucker afternoon for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander parents, as well as Parent/Teacher Interviews. In the meantime, if you scroll down, you can pencil those dates into your diary.
Stage 1 and 2 Visits
Over the past fortnight, I have had the pleasure of visiting all Stage 2 and some Stage 1 classes and WOW, aren't they all working hard! I saw so many engaging learning activities and happy students. Next week, I will visit Early Stage 1, as well as Stage 3 classes. Congratulations teachers and students.

Sports in full swing
Absolutely fabulous to see students heading off to Zone trials for sports. Congratulations to all students who have been to trials and good luck to those who are participaiting over the coming weeks. These zone trials are representative opportunities and selections are made by a representative of the Cudgegong Zone. They are a teaching staff member, volunteering their time to provide these opportunities.
Not all sports are representative opportunities. This Thursday, Miss Donnelly and staff will be taking a large group of students over to Victoria Park for a Hockey Gala Day. Later in March, Mr Baddock will be taking about 100 students over to the Peachey Shield Rugby League Gala Day.
Strategic Improvement Plan
Our Strategic Improvement Plan drives teaching and learning experiences in our school as we aim to support and develop confident, engaged lifelong learners. We are committed to providing a quality and equitable education where everyone belongs and is valued. We hope that every student succeeds and thrives. The image below is a visual representation of the themes in our plan which goes from 2021 - 2024.
Highlight of the Fortnight
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Cudgegong Zone Swimming Carnival. Everyone swam incredibly well and were wonderful ambassadors for our school. Congratulations to all competitors and special thanks to all the mums, dads, friends, family and teachers who supported and a big shout out to Gulgong Public School and carnival convener Miss Wilson for organising such a brilliant carnival. Extra congratulations to our Zone age champions- Tom Murray (Junior Boys)- Hope Gilmour (Junior Girls)- Caitlin Holleman (Senior Girls)- Felix Smith (Senior Boys)
Best of luck to those swimmers heading to Western.
Come join us for coffee on Thursday mornings, 9.15-9.45 until the end of Term, on the grass area in front of the Office. All parents and community members are welcome. So come along and re-connect with your Mudgee Public School community. Younger siblings are welcome. Looking forward to chatting with you.

Class Corner - MW
MW have been enjoying many hands-on activities in Maths for the first few weeks of Term 1. The students have played lots of dice, card and domino games to build their number sense. We have also investigated length using everyday objects as well formal tools such as rulers as tape measures. Look forward to sharing more with you later in the semester.

Support Unit School Learning Support Officers (SLSOs)
Our Support Unit simply wouldn't function the way it does without these fabulous educators - SLSOs (School Learning Support Officers). These amazing people provide such purposeful academical and social/emotional support. We would simply be lost without them!

P&C
The P&C kicked off 2022 with our first meeting on 14 February in the library. We are very lucky to be able to facilitate meetings that permit attendance in person and for those who can't make it in, our Zoom works really well.
We had a great meeting and discussed some fundraising ideas for 2022 and got to hear from Mr Carters about his plans for the school in 2022 along with a run down on NAPLAN. Our next meeting is our AGM on Monday 14 March at which all executive positions are declared vacant and election of office bearers for 2022 will occur. If you are interested in any of the positions please reach out to us at mudgeepublicschool@pandcaffiliate.org.au for more information. We are always encouraging new people to join the P&C whether as general members or in a more substantive role, we love new ideas and fresh perspectives on things. We hold two meetings a term which run for approximately 1hr to 1.5hrs. It's a great opportunity to contribute along with hearing what's happening at MPS and meet other parents and carers of students at school. The AGM will be followed immediately by a second general P&C meeting for 2022. You can join us in person in the school library at 7pm or via Zoom. Please register here for the Zoom meeting:
https://au01web.zoom.us/meeting/register/u5cudO-qqDovHNZbyOcJSfXbmoDW-cLXy4fiAfter registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. In other P&C news, our canteen has also had a cracker start to the year with lots of daily orders from students. Taco Twosday was a huge hit wtih Tracey, Jemma and a band of hardworking volunteers turning out over 300 orders for lunch. Tracey is always looking for new volunteers, so if you any time to spare, even an hour over lunch, please contact Tracey via the office. The Uniform Shop is open for all your school uniform needs each Thursday from 2-4pm. We can have people attend on site to choose uniforms or you can put your order through QuickCliq and have it delivered to your child's class or arrange for click and collect. Jemma is happy to help with any queries and you can reach the Uniform Shop at mudgeepublicschool-uniform@pandcaffiliate.org.au
Mudgee Public School would like to thank INTERSPORT Mudgee for their kind donation of sports balls for the school.
These will certainly be put to good use during Sport and PE - Thank you!
