Principal's Report
Yarn and Cuppa Afternoon
On Wednesday afternoon we had an absolutely fantastic afternoon connecting with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander parents and community for our second ever Yarn and Cuppa afternoon. The purpose is to not only connect with families but listen as we establish goals for student Personalised Learning Pathways. Thanks to Liz Liddle and the MPS Aboriginal Education team for a fantastic afternoon. Families enjoyed catching up with teachers, afternoon tea and some hands on activities!
Anti-Bullying
As you would remember, we recently had the National Day of Action to say NO to bullying! Students gathered on the oval altogether and took our school anti-bullying pledge acknowledged by an orange hand as a symbol of their commitment to the pledge. We had a special aerial photograph taken of the whole school, united as one for this event. Thanks to Social Focus for capturing this moment! We are looking forward to sharing this image with you all soon! See the images below.
We are looking for a parent volunteer (or 2) to help with the revision of our Anti-bullying plan. If you are interested please click here and leave your details.

The link to the online booking system for Parent Teacher Interviews is now open. The majority of Parent Teacher Interviews will be occuring on Wednesday 6 April; however, teachers have also made themselves available at other times both this week and next.
You will need to sign in with a Schoolzine account - most would have made one last year so if you have forgotten just reset the password. https://mudgeeps.schoolzineplus.com/Term12022...

Our school ANZAC Service will take place next Thursday 7 April at 10.30am. The service will take place outside 5/6E classroom and parents are most welcome to attend. (Please sign in through the school office on arrival)

Easter Hat Parade and Raffle
The excitement is building for our Easter Hat Parade which will take place next Friday 8 April on the school basketball courts at 12pm. Some infants classes have invited parents in to help with the creation of these hats. Keep on bringing in Easter egg donations and return your raffle tickets too!
PBL Assembly
Our first PBL Assembly for 2022 will be held on Friday 1st April commencing at 9:45am. We look forward to welcoming parents of award recipients onsite in our school hall.
For further information about our award system, please visit the PBL section of our School Website: https://mudgee-p.schools.nsw.gov.au/positive-behaviour...
School Cross Country
Our School Cross Country Carnival will take place next Tuesday morning at Walkers Oval. We hope to start around 9.45am. Parents are most welcome to join us to watch this event.
Kindergarten 2023
Next term, we will begin many of our Kindergarten school readiness activities. Stay tuned for a date early next term for our Information evening, as well as our Kindergarten safaris. For now, if you are a new Mudgee Public Parent, take a look at our Virtual Tour Video below.
The Lunch Club
Please see below a flyer for the MPS Lunch Club. The MPS Canteen is in need of extra helpers. If you could spare any time Tracey and Jemma would love to hear from you. Remember, every time we volunteer at the Canteen, we are directly giving back to Mudgee PS and our students.
Reporting of COVID Positive Cases to our Community
We will continue the reporting to you COVID positive cases; however, we will be streamlining this process a little and sending out one email to the school community and outlining the affected classes in that one email (rather than sending out a bunch of individual emails). Hopefully this remains just as informative, but reduces the administrative time for our office team.

Library
PRC - The Premiers Reading Challenge has begun! This is a challenge that all students across the state have an opportunity to participate in. Students in K-2 and stage 2 should have brought home a yellow sheet to begin writing the books down that you have read. Once you have read the required books, and filled out the sheet, you can return the sheet to me in the Library. All books are specially marked in the Library to make it as easy as possible to participate. K-2 students need to read 30 books with red PRC stickers on the front. Years 3-4 need to read 20 books with green PRC stickers on the front, and Years 5-6 need to read 20 books with purple PRC stickers on the front. Years 5-6 students are logging their books straight online in Library time, but if you want a yellow sheet to keep track, please come and see me in the Library. More information can be found at https://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc/home.html Students will need to know their computer login details to log the books online themselves. Happy Reading!
Mrs Vitnell (Teacher Librarian)
Class Corner - KC
KC have been busy little learners over the past several weeks! So far, we have learnt several letters of the alphabet and their corresponding sounds and are now working hard to apply this knowledge to writing activities. It is a joy to witness these early reading and writing skills coming together, and to see the excitement on the children’s faces when they begin to realise that they can read and write simple words.
We concluded our colour week celebrations with rainbow day in Week 7. Students enjoyed the many weeks of colour activities and their favourite activity was most definitely the time spent with their buddies on Green Day!
Mrs Caligari and KC
Class Corner - 4A
4A love Maths! This week we have been learning about capacity and how to measure liquids using millilitres and litres. 4A enjoy working in small groups, supported by Mrs Walden and Mrs Fletcher, Mrs Daley, and Mrs Baddock. Mrs Baddock's Wednesday group have been working really hard to convert using decimals.

From the Office
EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR HIGH SCHOOL 2023
Forms went home with each student in Year 6 requesting your Expression of Interest for High School in 2023. Please return the completed form to the office as soon as possible.
PICKING UP CHILDREN EARLY
As parents are now permitted to enter school grounds, you are asked, when picking up children early, to come into the office and sign your child out in the Early Leavers Book. If you know, in advance, that you need to pick up your child early, it is advisable to send a note to the teacher with the time. Parents then take the leavers slip to their child's classroom and collect from there. If a student is coming back to school after an appointment they need to be signed back in.
NAPLAN 2022
The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is a point in time assessment of literacy and numeracy skills. Students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 participate in the annual tests in writing, reading, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy. All NSW schools will sit NAPLAN online in 2022.
Our school will be participating in NAPLAN between 10 and 20 May 2022.
In preparation for NAPLAN, our school has also participated in practice tests between 21st to 25th March, 2022. The practice test is a trial run and key preparation activity for NAPLAN in May. It is not an assessment of student ability, and the tests will not be marked.
Excessive preparation for NAPLAN is not recommended. Students can use the public demonstration site (https://www.nap.edu.au/online-assessment/public-demonstration-site) to familiarise themselves with the types of questions and tools available in NAPLAN.
If you have any questions about NAPLAN, please contact your child’s teacher.

Community Messages
Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation runs school holiday STEAM activities for primary school aged kids.
Applications are now open for interested students, aged 8-13. This looks like a great opportunity to bring some fun science to the kids during the holidays.
Places are limited, so if you think this is something your son or daughter would enjoy, the advice is to enrol kids quickly.
