We have had another big fortnight on the sporting fields. I would like to start off by congratulating Felix, Seb and Angus on making the Western Softball team. These boys will represent Western at the State Softball Championships here in Mudgee in Week 7, Term 3. A big congratulations to our Tennis players, Rugby League players, Softball representatives, Western Touch Reps and Soccer players for all their efforts. Over the next fortnight we send good luck to our Rugby Union, Cricket, Touch Football and Basketball Teams.
Kindergarten 2023
Kindergarten enrolments for 2023 are now open. We encourage all local parents to get on and enrol as soon as possible. Visit https://mudgee-p.schools.nsw.gov.au/about.../enrolment.html or contact the school office on 6372 2036. Information for enrolment for next term's Jolly Gym will be open in coming weeks.
In relation to Kindergarten transition, the second Kinder Safari is on Tuesday 31 May. The safaris are an opportunity for students and parents to go on a tour of our school to familiarise themselves and ask questions. Please help promote this with future local enrolments
I am really excited for Jump Rope for Heart which officially launched at our school this Monday. We last participated in Jump Rope for Heart in 2020, and we were able to raise over $22,000 for the Heart Foundation, which placed us third in the country overall. Besides the fact we are raising money for a good cause, it is absolutely fantastic to see kids skipping and being physically active. Parents need to register their child for fundraising by visiting: https://www.jumprope.org.au/parents
You may remember last year, we let you know we had partnered with the Fathering Project. The Fathering Project positively impacts fathering behaviour and fathers’ engagement with children through evidence-rich programs and resources that engage, equip and support fathers, families, schools, employers and community organisations. Due to COVID restrictions with visitors, we haven't been able to do a lot of work in this space, however, now we can!
We invite all dads and father figures to join us on Friday 10 June at 2:00pm to launch this partnership with an afternoon of board games or card games with their children. We will have some games available, but we would love it if you could bring along some family favourites.
Some of you may also remember our 'Men at School Days' and we hope that our partnership with the Fathering Project can emulate some of this plus a little more. It's not only about dads. Stronger families and communities mean brighter futures for our children. We also hope that off the back of this, we are able to encourage fathers and father figures to join our Mudgee Public School Dad's group. Details on how to join are below - scan the QR Code in the second picture. For more information specifically about the Fathering Project visit: https://thefatheringproject.org/
Here is a further message from Mr Smith and Mr Lesslie (Our fathering project co-ordinators):
The Fathering Project is designed to help Dads and Father figures to be the best that they can be for their children, the family and themselves. The resources that we have access to helps to equip, inspire and support Fathers, schools and communities.
We can’t wait to start this adventure together and have you on board. Through our inductions into the program, we were struck by the quote by one of the men involved … he said "the thought of looking back at life wishing he had been more involved in his children’s lives prompted him to action. "
There are all sorts of resources for raising boys and girls, throughout all stages of their lives. Once you have access, you have it long after your child moves on from Mudgee Public School.
Looking forward to seeing you on the day!
Mr Smith and Mr Lesslie

Staffing Update
Today marks the end of an era for one of our fabulous mainstream SLSOs, Mrs Lisa Kelly. Lisa has worked closely with so many students providing, support and intervention to students and staff. Lisa is heading off to Tamworth to pursue a business opportunity, running a motel. On behalf of Mudgee Public School, we would like to thank Lisa for all her amazing work, dedication and compassion.
Today is also the last day for the year for Mrs Karli Mckinley (Co-teacher of 2GM), who will begin her maternity leave on Monday. We wish Mrs McKinley and her family all the very best. Mrs Emily Skewes will be taking over as co-teacher of 2GM with Mrs George.
Garden Club
On Tuesday morning, we open up the Kitchen Garden to all keen gardeners across the school. The Garden club will run every Tuesday morning from 845-915 and is open to all students.
Gulgong Eisteddfod
Yesterday I had the privilege of attending the Gulgong Eisteddfod. It was wonderful seeing the students performing and demonstrating a love of music. Congratulations all students, and teachers!!

Class Corner - 2GM
This term 2GM has been learning about Earth's Resources. What they are, why it's important to protect them and ways to save them. Our 2GM friends decided to take on a project to clean up our playground and to encourage others to as well.
They have been hard at work, creating these beautiful posters that are currently displayed around our playground, especially on the bins. Keep an eye out for them!

Meet The Staff - Ms Hayley Copley
My name is Hayley Copley and I started working at Mudgee Public School as a School Learning Support Officer at the beginning of this year.
I am Mudgee born and bred, have two young children, and recently returned to Mudgee after living in Bathurst for just over a decade.
After working in a pharmacy for many years I am thoroughly enjoying this new role of supporting students and teachers inside and outside the classroom. I look forward to continuing to get to know the MPS community.
