What a wonderful week of physical activity this week. We had our athletics carnival on Tuesday, Jump Rope for Heart Wednesday and K-2 Cross Country on Thursday. The thing that impressed me the most was everyone's willingness to have a go and give it their best. Congratulations students!

Jump Rope for Heart Jump Off
Wow!!!!! I can believe it, but I also can't! Did you know we raised $13782 for the Heart Foundation through Jump Rope for Heart? What an amazing effort. I am so incredibly proud of our school community pulling together for such a great cause. A big thank you to Mrs McRae who is the driving passion behind this initiative. See some pictures below from our Jump Off Day on Wednesday.
Kindergareten 2023: Jolly Gym Registrations & Out of Area Enrolments
Jolly Gym: registrations are now open! Jolly Gym is one hour of supervised fun, involving outdoor games and activities once a week for 6 weeks. It is a great opportunity for future MPS students to become familiar with the school environment. Jolly Gym commences on Tuesday 26th July OR Thursday 28th July 2022. More information will be emailed before the first session. CLICK BELOW TO REGISTER
Out of area enrolments are techinically due by the end of this term. If you live outside the Mudgee catchment area, it is an expectation that you attend your local school unless there are extenuating circumstances. We do hope that you have spoken to your local school before you consider applying to see if they can meet your child's needs. Out of area enrolments can be submitted online or via a form in the office. If you have any questions about this, contact the front office or ask to speak with Donna O'Hara, one of our deputy principals who leads our out of area enrolment panel.
We are currently recruiting for an asistant principal position. This position was vacated by Mel Shearman who is now the Assistant Principal Curriculum Instruction. https://iworkfor.nsw.gov.au/job/assistant-principal-mudgee-public-school-328204
Whilst we undergo this recruitment phase, Lisa Caligari will contiue to relieve as Kindergarten Assistant Principal for Term 3.
Sharon Murray one of our dedicated SLSOs in the support unit officially retires at the end of this term, as does Judy Morton. Recruitment for both positions will get underway next term. I would like to thank both of these ladies for their remarkable service to students and our school community.
We are also under recruitment for our school counsellor position. The job advertisement has been re-advertised. Melanie Fruedenstein continues as our school counsellor two days per week (Monday and Wednesday).
Before and After School Care
As you may have noticed the OOSH Hub is coming along well, and it has all intentions to start the facility early next term. Big Childcare are the provider who will be running the service and once I have received information as to how you enrol, I will ensure I pass this on. It is anticipated that the service will accommodate up to 60 children each day, from 7am - 8:45 in the morning and 3:15 - 6:00pm in the afternoon; as well as 7:00am - 6:00pm in school holidays.
Work is nearly complete on the Perry Street crossing near the residence and we hope to be back to normal operations before and after school next term.
The school crossing program is actually looking to recruit multiple positions across the town; with two positions available at the crossing at Mudgee Public School. If you are interested in these roles please contact Alex Prout - alex.prout@transport.nsw.gov.au
As you may be aware, Hayden Riley from 5/6B has recently spent some time at Randwick Children’s hospital after falling ill at the beginning of the term.
To show our support for Hayden and his family Stage 3 are holding a Cake Stall fundraiser on Tuesday June 28th. If you would like to contribute a cake for sale please bring it into the staffroom on Tuesday morning. All proceeds will go to supporting Hayden and his family.
Students from Kindergarten to Year 6 will be able to purchase morning tea on Tuesday. Cakes and slices will be available for 50c and $1 at both the Primary and Infants cola.

More information can be found at:

5/6E Arts Precinct
During visual art lessons this term, 5/6E have investigated surrealist art forms and artists, including works by Salvador Dali and Rene Magritte. To complement this unit of work, the students visited the Mudgee Arts Precinct to enjoy the current exhibition - ‘A Brief History of Mudgee’ by Michael Bourke. The students were highly engaged in the viewing today, and loved the quirkiness in each of the paintings. A particular highlight was the opportunity to speak with Michael about the artworks, and the students had lots of great questions and comments to make.
