It's been a big week on the sporting field for Seb Turner who attended the PSSA Football (formerly known as soccer) Carnival representing the Western Region. From all reports, Seb had a fantastic carnival and I know that 5/6E thoroughly enjoyed watching one of Seb's games on the live stream. Next week, Angus Tilmouth and Felix Smith represent Western here in Mudgee at the NSW PSSA Rugby Union Carnival. I will be out at the carnival all week as a state selector and look forward to watching them play. The week after, all three of these boys represent Western once again here in Mudgee for the NSW PSSA Softball carnival. Seriously big congratulations and well wishes to these talented young athletes.
Staffing Update
We recently ran a recruitment panel to fill a vacant Assistant Principal position. Congratulations to Mrs Jen O'Brien who was successful through merit selection with this position. There was also another Assistant Principal vacancy and that has been now filled permanently by Mrs Danielle George. Congratulations to these two inspiring educators.

Chickens / Kitchen Garden
A new building and three new enrolments have landed at MPS last week with mother hen and two chicks settling into their new home nicely at Mudgee PS. They can’t wait to meet the students and get to know you all. I wonder what their names will be??? We will have to ask the students! A big thanks to Mudgee High School for their support in getting this happening and to all who helped with the construction of the coop. Exciting times ahead!
Furthermore, our fabulous parents and students have been doing lots of work in our Kitchen Garden. This week, Stage 3 students helped with some planting. The area is looking so lovely!

Class Corner - 2/3S
In alliance with our recent Education Week theme, ‘Creating Futures’, 2/3S have had a lot of fun discussing what we see ourselves doing later in life. From physiotherapists to professional sports players, pilots and famous YouTubers, we seem to have an interesting future ahead! 2/3S created an artwork of themselves now by drawing their head, neck and shoulders using black sharpies. They then traced on some sunglasses, to act as their ‘vision’ for the future. Students enjoyed using water colours to paint themselves. They then used coloured sharpies to draw pictures of what they wanted in the future…this could range from a job they saw themselves doing, to living overseas or having a family! Students used oil pastels to create interesting, vibrant patterns for their background. Just check out how awesome they look!

Class Corner - 1N
1N have been exploring the concept of character in English. They learned that authors and illustrators create characters by describing their personal and physical characteristics. One of 1N's favourite characters is 'The Gruffalo'. They used the description from this story to create an artwork. Students also enjoyed developing their own characters and then writing a description of their personal and physical qualities.

Meet the Staff - Mrs Jasmin Perring
Hi, my name is Jasmin Perring and I am a new School Learning Support Officer at MPS.
I have lived in Mudgee my whole life and am now lucky enough to be raising my two children in our beautiful community.
I am currently studding a Bachelor of Education K-12 and am finding my role as an SLSO to be great practical experience to tie in with my studies. I am thoroughly enjoying getting to know all the children and look forward to working with and helping to guide them as they grow and achieve their goals throughout their learning journey. I am passionate about all aspects of health and movement and hope to help support the children in creating active lifelong habits while at school.
I am always up for a chat so if you see me around come and say hello.
