Principal's Report

Dave Aldridge Touch Football Gala Day

I want to start with some super pleasing news. On Tuesday, nearly 140 students attended the Dave Aldridge Touch Football Gala Day. The day is all about participation, sportsmanship and respect and I am led to believe that all students from MPS displayed these values all day. I was inundated with positive feedback around these aspects and I couldn't be more proud. Well done, MPS!

School Disco

The school disco last night was a huge hit. A big thank you to all who attended, I hope all your children had a great time (it sure seemed that way).  Dj Harris had the kids bopping and it was so much fun dancing the night away. Thanks to the staff; as well as our fabulous P&C representatives Karen Schrover and Marni Cross for the food sales!

Public Holiday - Thursday

Just a reminder that this Thursday 22nd of September there is a public holiday set aside as a National day of mourning for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The School will be non-operational this day. The Last day of term is Friday 23rd of September.

Redtember - SRC Fundraiser

Today, Friday 16 September, the SRC held a fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House Charities Central West by wearing RED and making a small donation. Well done to the SRC members and thank you to everyone for your contributions - We raised $473.60!

Thank you everyone for your continued support. I will send out a video newsletter next week, as well as hopefully some written communication around staffing positions. Until then, enjoy the weekend, and if I don't see you, have a great holiday!

OSHC - from big CHILDCARE

With the application deadline creeping up on us, we would hate for families to miss out on this amazing initiative from Service NSW so we can offer that free $500 safety net for anyone that may need care after school hours and in the holidays too! 

Important Dates:

September 30 - Application deadline

Last day of Term 4 - Families must register their voucher with Big Childcare

June 30, 2023 - Families can use their $500 until this date.

Note for 2023 kinder students: This offer is also open to these families too with all the above deadlines, what a great way these children and families could start the school year with having free before and after school care!

Library News

Book Club - Issue 6 orders have arrived and will be handed out either today or early next week. Thank you for your continued support of Book Club!

Overdue books - There are a lot of overdue books at the moment. Please return all books to the Library next week so that others can enjoy them too. You are welcome to borrow books over the school holidays, however, please take care of them, and keep them out of harm's way.

Best Borrower - At the end of each Term, a student from each class is awarded the 'Best Borrower' award. This student receives a small certificate and a free book from the Prize Books box. Well done to the students who have won the Term 1 and Term 2 awards!

Class Corner - JC

This term in JC we have been learning about tigers. We have used books and computers to research about tigers, as well as completed tiger artworks. We have some students in our class that attend Riding for the Disabled and have enjoyed participating in different activities while learning to safely ride a horse. Every Friday we do cooking. We have made lots of yummy foods, including damper, and nachos. We love to do dress ups, fine motor activities, build cubbies and complete various activities in the playground.

4W Discoveries - What have I learnt? 

In 4W I have learnt how to play tennis.  - Lou 

In 4W I've learned how the convicts lived and survived. - Levi 

In 4W I learned how to play Hit-It in Maths and we cooked nachos and tacos for lunch. - Scout 

In 4W we are learning to cook and we learned to write poetry. - Isabella 

In 4W I had heaps of fun cooking and eating nachos and tacos. We’ve also been having lots of fun finding out about different biomes.  - Fletcher 

In 4W I like writing with a pen. I have learned my 6 times tables AND we get to cook! - Sasha 

In 4W I like that we learned how to play French-Cricket and to play a new Maths game called Hit-It. I also made new friends that have moved here from different schools. - Evie 

My name is Zayden. In 4W I’ve learned about French Cricket and Hit-It in Maths. I’ve learned about convicts and how they survived. I’ve learned my 8 and 7 times tables. In 4W we are cooking tacos and nachos! 

Hi my name is Chase. I’m in Year 4. My class is 4W and I have the best teacher. I have learned how to play French Cricket. We are learning to cook. In my class we have 31 kids.  Chase 

In 4W I learned to research about convicts and Deciduous Forests. We also filled the bean jar multiple times.  - Charlie 

In 4W, Mrs Wheeler finally became friends with technology. I have enjoyed playing with Hacky-sacks and I’ve learned to write poems.  Oscar 

In 4W I learned how to play French Cricket.I have been taught how to cook tacos and Nachos. We have learned how to play Hit-it in Maths.  - Andy

4W has been a fun and enjoyable experience. I’ve completed projects including Biomes, convicts and designing, toys. The Blue Mountains Excursion will be one of the best things ever! -  Toby

PRESCRIBED MEDICATIONS

When students need to take prescribed medications at school, parents are required to complete a “Request for support at school to administer prescribed medication” form.  Where possible, a letter from the Paediatrician should also be provided to the school.  Medication, in a webster pack or the original pharmacy packaging, indicating the students name, type of medication and dosage should be handed into the Administration office by the parent.  Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.

MAKING SCHOOL PAYMENTS ON-LINE (POP)

A reminder that ALL school payments can be made on-line via the school website. Excursion permission notes MUST be returned to the class teacher for students to attend. Instructions for using POP (Parent On-line Payment), can be found in the link below, or if you have any questions please contact your friendly office ladies!

MUDGEE SWIMMING CLUB

Are you interested to see if the kids will love swim club? 🏊🏼‍♀️🏊🏻(we know they will😝)

Come along to the pool , Tuesday the 11^th October and give swim club a go for FREE!!!

We are a family-friendly club and encourage members of all ages from pre-school to parents and swimming abilities to join. We are a non-competitive club, which means we do not award 1st, 2nd, 3rd in races, swimmers compete against themselves trying to improve their own time each week. We have 16, 25, 50 & 100 metre races. The younger swimmers can have an older member/parent assist them if they are not a super confident swimmer.

DENTO RYU KARATE -Traditional non-contact Karate 6pm - 7pm Tuesday & Thursday - Mudgee Public School Hall  $3.50 per lesson - Ages 5yrs over
