It's been a huge fortnight here at Mudgee Public School with events such as the swimming carnival, zone swimming carnival, investiture assembly, visit from the St George Illawarra Dragons, League Tag Gala Day, CLC Leadership day.. it's all been happening! I mentioned this in last week's video newsletter, but I would like to once again congratulate all students for their efforts at the swimming carnival. It was fantastic going back to a carnival for 8 year olds and up (rather than just competitors) focussing on the NSW PSSA mantra of PARTICIPATION. So many kids doing what they thought impossible. We just loved seeing that feeling of pride & achievement. Wonderful school and community spirit. Thanks to all who came along and to our staff for organising such a splendid carnival.

I was so proud of our students who represented their school so very well. Best of luck to all swimmers who will be swimming at Western Swimming in Dubbo on Friday 10 March.

Investiture Assembly: Congratulations to all students who were inducted into our Semester 1 student leadership teams at this week's Investiture Assembly. Thank you to the family and friends who came to celebrate their child’s investiture, presenting them with their badges and celebrating such an honourable and proud moment in their education. We know all students elected to represent their peers will fulfil their roles responsibly and with great pride. Last week I shared with you images of our House Captains. See below some pictures of our School Captains and SRC Representatives.

School tour for parents interested in enrolling students in future years
We have decided to try something a little different this year as we prepare to start taking Kindergarten enrolments for 2024 and beyond. On Friday 17th and 31st of March at 10am, we will be holding a School Tour for interested parents. We hope to share our school in action with a mixture of learning experiences on show. I will endeavour to visit preschools and daycares to drop off flyers to promote these events; however, if you know your neighbour or friends have little ones that could be Mudgee PS students in future years, please share this information with them. I have also included a flyer below which shows our Road to Kindergarten for 2024 students. We have already marked dates for Kindergarten Information Evening as well as Kindergarten Safaris.
Yarn and Cuppa Afternoon: We are looking forward to our Yarn and Cuppa Afternoon on Wednesday 8 March, where we will meet with all our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and their children. This is a great time to chat with your child's classroom teacher about what goals you would like to see for your child in 2023. It is also a time to get together as a community and catch up over some afternoon tea.
P&C AGM: Just a reminder that our P&C AGM isn't too far away. It's scheduled for Monday 13 March at 5:30pm in the Mudgee PS Residence. All positions will be declared vacant and it's important to note that a few of the executive will be standing down after years of wonderful service. We look forward to seeing many of you at this meeting.
School photos: Happening Monday 13 March! You can order your photos online and then return your envelope to school. Family photo envelopes can be requested via the office. Students will need to wear their Summer Uniform. "Bring your smiles everyone!"
Wishing you all a fabulous fortnight.
John Carters
Principal

Class Corner - 1N
1N are off to a great start for 2023 after just finishing their time of 'Class of the Week'! They were thrilled to have Buzzy Bee visit. He was on the look out for students following our 4 bees so he could spend time with them during learning,...or just to have a cuddle.
In English, IN have been learning how to write interesting sentences about special places by including a preposition ( a word which explains where something is) and nouns groups (words used to describe a person, place, animal or thing). They have also been busy learning to partner read or read in a group of 3. Mr Carters came to visit during this time and was very pleased with everyone's efforts.
In Maths, IN have been working really hard to learn their friends of 10, such as 6 and 4, 7 and 3 etc. They have also been learning about the attributes of shapes and numbers, sorting these into groups and explaining their grouping.
We are looking forward to a great year ahead!

Class Corner - 6S
6S have had a wonderful start to the year and are thriving at school. They have shown their responsible and respectful nature in many areas, especially when spending time at Buddies! They love seeing their buddy and are helping them with their sounds as well as making friends in the playground.
They have thoroughly enjoyed writing a commentary about High Diving Giraffes and interviewing coaches to work out the ins and outs of Giraffes in sport. In Maths they have been working hard to read numbers well into the millions, as well as working with small parts of numbers in the form of fractions and decimals.
They love Art and PE, as well as their class pets. Three Yabbies also call 6S home and are a great source of entertainment.
6S are working on a growth mindset to ensure that they get the best out of themselves and each other. As we look forward to the year ahead we only see hard work and no fun, we have no time for that 😉 our 6S family look out for others and seek the best for our classmates.
