We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful families who joined us last Friday for our delightful Mother's Day Breakfast celebration. The event was a resounding success, and we are thrilled to have witnessed such an overwhelming turnout. It was truly heartwarming to see our school community come together to honour and appreciate the incredible mothers and mother figures in our students' lives. We hope that the breakfast provided an opportunity for families to come together, sharing precious moments with their children at school.
We extend a special thank you to the dedicated and hardworking members of our P&C who volunteered their time and efforts to make this event possible. Your commitment and enthusiasm in organizing the breakfast were instrumental in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone to enjoy. Your unwavering support truly exemplifies the strong bond we have within our school community. (More images can be found on our school Facebook page -Facebook)

PSSA Sport:We have had some wonderful success on the sporting fields over the past fortnight. On Monday Seb, Angus and Freddy were selected in the Western Softball Team. On Wednesday, our PSSA Touch Teams won all their games and will progress to the next stage of the State Knockout. Angus, Henry and Ashton have been selected in Western Rugby Union and Ruby O'Brien has been selected in Western Netball. Congratulations to all these students. Yesterday, sixteen boys from Stage 3 played in the PSSA Classic Shield Rugby League in Dubbo. The boys played two games and came away with two wins against Cudgeong Valley PS and Bunninyong PS. It was a fabulous day with great sportsmanship. CVPS stayed on to cheer our boys in the final. The team are now off to Parkes on July 26 to play in the Western final. A big thank you to Matt Stott for coaching the team and to the parents for transporting them to Dubbo.
Attendance Matters:I know we have lots of students displaying Cold and Flu symptoms and it is incredibly important that if you are unwell you stay at home. However, if you are healthy, attending school every day is of utmost importance for the growth, development, and success of every student. Each day, school provides invaluable opportunities for learning, social interaction, and personal growth. Consistent attendance ensures that students receive a comprehensive education that builds upon previous lessons, allowing them to grasp new concepts and skills effectively. By being present in the classroom, students actively engage with their teachers and peers, participating in discussions, asking questions, and collaborating on projects. This active involvement fosters critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills, all of which are essential for future success in academics, careers, and life. Moreover, regular attendance promotes a sense of routine, discipline, and responsibility, preparing students as successful citizens. It also nurtures positive relationships with teachers and classmates, creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment. By attending school every day, students not only enhance their knowledge but also develop essential life skills, gain a broader perspective on the world, and lay the foundation for a bright future filled with endless possibilities. Every little bit of education your child misses, matters - it all adds up. Please let us know if we can support you if you are having any challenges with your child's attendance.
School Events:It's a busy busy time here at Mudgee PS. I hope this infographic below helps with what's coming up over the next 3 weeks. Please note, events are subject to change, but this is it to the best of our knowledge!
Have a great weekend, and week ahead.

Class Corner - KF
KF have settled back into the routines quickly after the holidays. Last week, we finished off our Geography unit focusing on local landmarks with a walk to the Mudgee Library. The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We explored the Local Library, and the many different reasons people go there. During our literacy activities each day, the children are given the opportunity to practise their sounds and sight words along with furthering their reading and writing skills. In maths last week, we were learning all about shapes. The children have been learning how to name a shape, finding smaller shapes within a square, that new shapes can be made by combining shapes and that a shape can be halved into two equal parts.

Class Corner - 5B
This week in Mathematics we have explored the properties of triangles. We created all the main types of triangles out of wool and straws and then we grouped them according to the properties of their sides and angles. We also took the three corners of an equilateral triangle and glued them against a straight line proving the sum of the 3 angles from a triangle is 180 degrees.
In Science we got messy this week changing the properties of an eggshell. We placed eggs in a cup with some vinegar and food colouring to see a chemical reaction. It was fascinating to watch the changes over the week. First, we noticed small bubbles around the eggs. These small bubbles are carbon dioxide gas, which are the result of the reaction between calcium carbonate in the shell and the vinegar. We talked about how the shell was originally a solid and had changed to feeling like soft rubber. The students loved seeing the eggs bounce from a small distance and discovered they all still had a liquid inside when dropped from a height.

Staff Professional Learning
This week, staff have continued to learn more about Visible Learning. Twice a term, during Wednesday afternoon professional learning time, the teaching staff attend the Teacher Learning Communities (TLCs), learning about Visible Learning in Maths. The TLCs are lead by our teachers and Aspiring Leaders. TLCs are a collaborative forum with lots of discussion, sharing and learning. Everyone then puts into practice in the classroom what they have learnt. Teachers also have the opportunity to visit other classes and observe colleagues put this new learning into practice.
Upcoming Professional Learning for Staff:
Whole Staff: Stage Based collaborative planning
K-2: Curriculum Reform - Applying Visible Learning in Mathematics principles to new units of work

Office News
SCHOOL VISITOR CHECK-IN and PICKING UP YOUR CHILD EARLY
ALL VISITORS (parents/carers, volunteers and contractors including cleaners) must use School Visitor Check-in to comply with school sign-in procedures. When needing to pick your child up early from school please come to the office and sign them out in the “Student Early Leavers” register. A printed early slip will be provided, and you can then collect your child from their classroom.
CHANGE OF DETAILS
Staff at Mudgee Public School need to stay connected with our families and it is of the utmost importance that parents/carers inform the office of any changes in a student’s details. This includes address, phone numbers, email addresses, emergency contacts and parental responsibility, including any Court Orders which may have been put into place. Please allow us to stay informed by forwarding any changes as soon as possible.
CHANGE OF AFTERNOON ARRANGEMENTS
If the home time arrangements change for your child, it would be very much appreciated if a phone call, to the office, could be made by 2pm. This enables us, to ensure that, the message will get to your child before the afternoon bell time.
