Students were treated with a special surprise this week after the long weekend! They returned to school with some fantastic new artwork on the playground. After receiving a grant through Glencore, and with the assistance from our wonderful P&C, the top infants playground received this makeover! We can't thank Glencore enough for the grant we received from them to paint our infants playground!

Fun Friday:We have something pretty exciting coming up for Fun Friday. Students displaying the appropriate behaviour will have the opportunity to attend the Atomic Rush Inflatable obstacle course. If students have been on a Level 2 or higher from Weeks 7-10, they may need to miss out on some or all of the time. We are working really hard with all students to help support them set goals and stay focussed on their behavioural choices. I'm confident we will have a very very high number of students in attendance.

Over the last couple of weeks, our netball team has had another win this time against Gilgandra; whilst our Tennis team has another win in Parkes. Both teams progress through to the next stage of the knockout. Best of Luck to Angus and Finn who are representing Western next week at the NSWPSSA Rugby League Championship in Wagga Wagga

Pie Drive Orders Close next Week:Jump onto QuickCliq and get your pie orders to support our P&C with their first major fundraiser for the year. Orders close next Tuesday! The P&C coordinate many fundraisers with all profits going back to our students, their learning and improvements across the school. By supporting this Pie Drive you are supporting your child's learning.
Thank you for your continued support!
Highlights of the Week:This week, I was invited to visit class 5B to view their collaborative film they have made for the Cudgeong Learning Community Short Film Festival. The theme Past, Present and Future was well represented as they report on the History of The Glen Willow precinct, how it is used now, and what might be in the future. Take a look at the film below!
It is your Last chance for entries to the CLC Short-Film Festival (entries close Monday although I'm sure we could wait a couple of days if we knew it was coming). I have seen some wonderful entries so far. Got nothing to do on the weekend - why not make a film?
Have a great weekend, and week ahead.

Library News
In Library this term, students have started looking at the CBCA shortlisted books, in preparation for Book Week in Term 3. All students have enjoyed listening to a range of books and giving them a rating. We will continue looking at shortlisted books for the remainder of the term and into Term 3.
K-2 Students are in for a treat next term, with an author visit scheduled for August 18th! Chris Roy Taylor and James Crabtree are going to visit our school as part of the Mudgee Young Readers Festival. They will entertain our students and talk about their book 'Tina and Tom's Time Travelling Toilet' We are looking forward to hosting them here at MPS.
PRC - Congratulations to the 62 students who have completed their Premiers Reading Challenge! Your names are displayed on our PRC Tree in the Library. There is still plenty of time to complete the PRC! The challenge closes on Friday August 18th. More information can be found at:
Book Club - Issue 4 orders were finalised today. All orders should be delivered before the end of Term. FYI: There is an option online to mark your order as a 'GIFT' if you don't want your child to know about the order, in which case Parents/Carers are called to collect the order from the front office. Any orders not marked as 'GIFT' are sent to the student to take home.
Overdues - There are a lot of overdue books across the school at the moment. Please check your shelves at home and return any books that belong to the school Library.
Happy Reading!

Class Corner - AL
There has been a lot of fun filled learning happening in AL!
Most of our students have enjoyed participating in Riding for the Disabled at the Showground every Wednesday. The horses are very popular and the staff have been amazingly supportive. In the classroom there has been a lot of hands-on Maths learning in class. We have loved learning through exploring with matching numbers, making big numbers, and learning about patterns they make. Another highlight is cooking each week. The students have been displaying great skills as they plan, prepare and try new and different foods each week.

Class Corner - 3L
3L transformed into astronomers this term as they studied the Sun, Moon and Earth. Our Science project gave students the chance to research fascinating celestial bodies then transform their findings into impressive slideshows using Powerpoint or Google Slides, posters, project books, pamphlets or fact sheets. Great job 3L!

Staff Professional Learning
On Monday Mr Carters, Mrs O'Hara, Mrs George, Mrs Shearman and Mrs Meers will be presenting at the Social Ventures Australia Hub Day about Collaborative professional learning. We will be sharing our work that we have been doing over the last two years on Teacher Learning Communities which is a collaborative professional learning model that we use to learn about formative assessment and visible learning. It is so exciting to be able to share the work that we have been doing which is having a really positive imapct on student learning outcomes as well as building teacher and leadership capacity.
SCHOOL VISITOR CHECK-IN and PICKING UP YOUR CHILD EARLY
ALL VISITORS (parents/carers, volunteers and contractors including cleaners) must use School Visitor Check-in to comply with school sign-in procedures. When needing to pick your child up early from school please come to the office and sign them out in the “Student Early Leavers” register. A printed early slip will be provided, and you can then collect your child from their classroom.
CHANGE OF AFTERNOON ARRANGEMENTS
If the home time arrangements change for your child, it would be very much appreciated if a phone call, to the office, could be made by 2pm. This enables us, to ensure that, the message will get to your child before the afternoon bell time.
CHANGE OF STUDENT DETAILS - IMPORTANT
It is important that the school have correct student contact details incase of an emergency, including residential address, parent/carer email, phone numbers and any additional emergency contacts. If you wish to check your student details, or wish to make any changes, please phone the office for assistance. PH - 6372 2036
