Zoofari:We are so proud of our Year 2 friends for showing great commitment and dedication to their animal of choice. Their presentations were such a wonderful array of dioramas, posters and many other different ways of sharing their learning with all of the students, family members and staff at MPS. I'd like to thank all of our Year 2 family and friends for attending the presentation and for supporting your children with their Zoofari learning this term. A huge shout out to our staff as well who facilitated this wonderful learning experience. Their unit of work was capped off with a trip to Dubbo Zoo on Tuesday with over 8km of walking!

Tournament of the Minds: Last weekend our school represented Western NSW in the State Final of Tournament of Minds, held at the University Of NSW in Sydney. It was an amazing feat to see two teams compete at this level. The team members for Social Science: Freddy Stevens, Charlie French, Mollie Wallace, Ayla Coupe, Jake Colley, Sam Walker and Lucia Clarkson had to prepare a 10-minute performance in just 3 hours based on the social issue of scamming. The team produced an excellent response to this challenge and displayed excellent teamwork, creativity and problem-solving skills. The Language Literature team: Oscar Clay, Henry Thomson, Toby Williams, Ziggy Gordon, Poppy Waugh, George Anderson and Chloe Clarkson were given the challenge of recreating the story, 'The Velveteen Rabbit' in a different context. They created an entertaining and creative response in just 3 hours to confidently perform in front of a large audience. Mrs Tito and Mrs B were so proud of each team as they had worked hard in preparation for this event and then produced quality performances under the pressure of a state final. A big thank you to all parents who provided transport to Orange and Randwick, as well as accommodation in Sydney. Your support is very much appreciated. Congratulations to all involved.
School Disco and Footsteps Dance: Next week, we have the Footsteps Dance Company coming in to deliver their highly engaging and intensive dance program to all students. This year there will be no cost to this program which will be 100% subsidised by the school. Students will participate in a dance lesson every day next week. The Footsteps crew are also putting on a disco on Thursday afternoon/evening. K-2 430-5:15pm; and Years 3-6 5:30 - 6:30pm. The P&C will be running a small canteen as well. There is also no charge to the event (Just bring along a few dollars for the canteen).
Flavours of Mudgee:Next Saturday, we have a P&C stall at Flavours of Mudgee where we will be selling 2000 kids snack packs. We would love if you could volunteer some time to help - even if its just half an hour. Please contact Myff Clarke 0415539039 if you are able to assist. A huge thank you in advance for everyone's hard work in this space.
Touch Football:Best of luck to our boys touch football team who will play in the Western Final of the NSW PSSA touch football knockout competition next Tuesday at Glen Willow. This is a marvellous achievement. There will be many classes going out to support. Best of luck boys.
Western Softball:This week we had three boys out at Western Softball (Freddy, Seb and Angus). They played exceptionally well and the Western team actually finished fourth overall, with two players making the state side. Congratulations boys - we are all super proud of you!

Class Corner - KL
This week KL has their first session in the Computer lab learning how to 'Log On' with Mrs Sharp. The children were very excited and accomplished 'Logging On' quite easily. They then went on to play 'Tux Paint' to practice using the mouse.
In our English Unit we looked at a book called 'Waves'. It had no printed words so the children gave their own ideas on what was going on throughout the story by referring to the pictures. Back to their desks they drew a scene from the story.

Class Corner - 1/2SR
1/2SR have had a huge Term 3! Year 2 have worked so hard on their research projects for Zoofari. This is a huge undertaking. Year 2 had to do their own research, write and type an information report and create a poster or diorama about their animal. They then presented this to the whole school as well as parents and friends. We are so proud of their efforts. To consolidate their learning, they went to Dubbo Zoo and had the most fantastic day.
Year 1 have been learning all about the past and the present in history this term and visited Red Hill and the Gulgong Pioneer Museum to see what life was like in the past. Students played a game where they were given an object from the past and had to guess what its job was. They must have been listening during history because they got them all right!
