Our whole school enjoyed an afternoon dodging colour, water stations, obstacles, and enjoying yummy treats. Thank you to our Year 6 students, class of 2023, and staff, for putting on a phenomenal event for all to enjoy. BIG thank you to all of our MPS community for sharing in the fun and supporting our school. Extra special thanks to local businesses who supported this effort as well. Deputy Secretary, Cathy Brennan, Visit : Today we had a visit from a very special guest, Cathy Brennan, who is the Deputy Secretary of the Department of Education. Cathy was in Dubbo yesterday attending a professional learning session for principals and must've heard about all the wonderful things Mudgee Public School is up to and wanted to see first hand. We only had 1.5 hours, but in that time, we were able to showcase: Visible Learning for Mathematics, Yarning Circle, the work our Environmental Team is doing, the Wellbeing hub, Kindergarten literacy, Podcasting and technology update, plus a meeting with some of our executive members where we talked about the steps we've been taking in relation to continuous school improvement. It's moments like these that are great to step back and see the wonderful work that happens each and every day and further highlight what a great place Mudgee Public School is to come to learn together.
Congratulations! 30 yrs Service: We would like to congratulate Mrs Donna O'Hara and Mrs Mel Shearman on receiving a special 30 Years Service certificate, presented by Deputy Secretary Cathy Brennan on behalf of the NSW Department of Education. We are so priviledged to have these wonderful dedicated ladies at Mudgee Public School. On behalf of all the staff and students, thank you for all you continue to do and congratulations!
Waste Free Wednesday: On Wednesday, we were able to implement an initiative that our Environmental Team have been working on, which was "Waste Free Wednesday". Mudgee Public School are proud of their journey to sustainability in the school, and this was a great opportunity to teach our students about reusable products and minimisingwaste, as well as the health benefits generally associated with non packaged food items. I am please to announce our winners from the day: K-2: 2GP; 3-6 5/6T and Support Unit: OL. Thank you to all who were able to support this wonderful initiative and sharing in our sustainability journey.
Good Luck Freddy:Best of luck to Freddy Stevens who next Friday is off to the State Final of the Multicultural Public Speaking competition. Freddy will be joined in support by his family and teacher/mentor Mrs Baddock.
Freddy, we wish you the very best of luck and we couldn't be more proud of your efforts and achievements in Public Speaking, not just this year, but over the years. We hope you truly enjoy the experience.
Financial Assistance: I just wanted to draw to everyone's attention that there is always financial assistance available for excursions, incursions, programs and events where payment is required. I am a firm believer that public education is for everyone, and as the principal of this school, I endeavour to ensure that every child has access to an equitable education. I also understand that these times are difficult for people from all backgrounds with cost of living, mortgages and rent experiencing stressful times. For these reasons, I am always heavily subsiding events to ensure all children receive quality additional learning experiences. If you require extra support, please do not feel embarrassed to ask for financial assistance. I ensure these matters are dealt with the strictest levels of confidentiality.
Calendar: I have once again tried my best to include all events between now and the end of the year on the infographics below. As also mentioned previously, please note this is a changing landscape. I will endeavour to keep updating each week as we go.
Have a great weekend and week ahead.

2024 School Bus Passes - Information for Parents & Carers
Is your child eligible for free bus travel to and from school?
All Ogden’s Coaches bus passes will be distributed to eligible students via mail early next year for most bus routes in Gulgong and Mudgee (except Botobolar and Cudgegong which is serviced by Booth’s Bus Service). If your child is enrolled in a local school, please note the following:
Students going into Kindergarten, Year 3 and Year 7 must apply for a new pass.
If you have moved address or schools you must ‘update existing details’
If you are unsure whether or not your child has a current bus pass, please contact our office on 6372
To travel on our bus service, students MUST present their bus pass to the Driver morning and afternoon. If they are ineligible or do not have a pass they can pay a fare or by purchasing a book of 10 tickets, a Term Pass or Annual Pass from our office.
Apply for student bus passes & update details via our website ogdenscoaches.com.au
Select ‘Schools’ tab in top header then select either ‘Apply for a New Pass’ or ‘Update Existing Details’. Fill in the application form for each child and you will be notified of eligibility via email from Transport NSW.
