Presentation Day- Our annual Presentation day will be held on Wednesday 6 December. Again there will be a Primary Awards Presentation at 9.45am followed by an Infants Awards Presentation at 12pm.
Captains Elections- Our Captain nominees for 2024 have been busily preparing their speeches to present on Monday 27/11 students in Years 2-6. Parents of the nominees are welcome to attend to see their child speak at 12pm. The students and staff will then vote to decide our Captains and Vice Captains for 2024, which will be announced at Presentation Day. Good luck nominees!
Student Leavers- Are you leaving Mudgee? Please inform your child's teacher or the school office staff if your child will be leaving MPS this year. This information is needed as soon as possible to prepare for planning for 2024.
PBL Awards- Please check at home for any of your child's PBL Awards. These are due to class teachers by Monday December 4 at the latest. Our Term 4 PBL Assembly will be Wednesday 13 December.
Swim Scheme- Swim school will commence next week for Year 2 and Support Unit students. Please check your parent email for information relating to this. Hopefully the weather will be kind!
P&C Meeting- The final meeting for the year will be held on Monday 27 November at 6pm at the School Residence building. everyone is welcome to attend and hear the recap for the year. Dinner will be provided as a thank you to everyone that has helped throughout the year and any interested new numbers that would like to be involved.
State Multi-cultural Final- Last Friday, Freddy Stevens competed in the NSW State Finals of the Multicultural Perspectives Competition. The final took place in Surry Hills and was contested by the top ten speakers in NSW. Freddy presented his prepared speech on ‘Privilege’ where he promoted the idea of white privilege being like having the wind at your back pushing you forward and racism as being the wind blowing against you, making it difficult to achieve your best. Freddy then had 5 minutes to prepare an impromptu speech on the topic ‘Under Pressure’. He presented an excellent speech that focussed on David Warner.
A student from Newcastle was awarded the winner. Freddy received a medal in recognition of his talent in public speaking and received praise from the adjudicator. Congratulations Freddy on your outstanding achievement and all the best in your future public speaking ventures as you head to high school next year.
Financial Assistance- I just wanted to draw to everyone's attention that there is always financial assistance available for excursions, incursions, programs and events where payment is required. I am a firm believer that public education is for everyone, and as the principal of this school, I endeavour to ensure that every child has access to an equitable education. I also understand that these times are difficult for people from all backgrounds with cost of living, mortgages and rent experiencing stressful times. For these reasons, I am always heavily subsiding events to ensure all children receive quality additional learning experiences. If you require extra support, please do not feel embarrassed to ask for financial assistance. I ensure these matters are dealt with the strictest levels of confidentiality.
Calendar- Please see the infographics below from now until the end of the year. As also mentioned previously, note this is a changing landscape. I will endeavour to keep updating each week as we go.
Have a great weekend and week ahead.
